Isabelle Tremblay Busts the Bubble, Jason Kastner Eliminated in 28th Place

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Isabelle Tremblay
Isabelle Tremblay

Jason Kastner puts in his last 20,000 in early position. He had only five big blinds and Isabelle Tremblay called from the cutoff.

Amir Babakhani folded {5-}{2-} from the big blind, leaving Tremblay heads up with Kastner. Kastner was at risk, but held {k-}{k-}. Tremblay turned over {7-Spades}{8-Spades}, but for some reason, everyone at the table seemed to think she had a monster.

It turned out to be a monster when the board ran out {7-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-}{8-}, giving Tremblay a full house. Kastner was eliminated. Each remaining player is now guaranteed CAD $750.

Bubble Double For Babakhani

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Amir Babakhani has opened preflop three different hands on the bubble. The first one he shoved all in and showed the {8-Hearts} when everyone folded.

The second, he made it 10,000 and Senthuran Vijayaratnam called on the button. Babakhani checked the flop and Vijayaratnam bet. Babakhani folded.

On the third hand, Babakhani opened again, this time to 8,000. Vijayaratnam reraised to 30,000 and Babakhani waited for a brief moment, counted his remaining chips, and went all in. Vijayaratnam called and showed {6-}{6-}. Babakhani had {a-}{a-} and doubled up when the board ran out {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}.

Vijayaratnam Jams on the River

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On a {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} board Christophe Joubert bet 45,000 into a pot of about 85,000. Senthuran Vijayaratnam made the call and the {6-Spades} fell on the river.

Vijayaratnam checked the river and after a moment in the tank, Joubert slid out a bet of 37,000. Vijayaratnam shoved all-in for about 100,000 and Joubert tossed his cards into the muck.

Feels Like the First Time

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Amir Babakhani opende to 6,000 in middle position and Chritophe Joubert reraisedbehind to 15,500.

The action folded around and Babakhani took about 20 seconds before he called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Babakhani checked. Joubert counted out three even stacks of chips and formed them in a triangle before pushing them into the pot. The best was 17,500. Babakhani called.

Babakhani checked dark and said it was the first time he had ever done that in his life. The {4-Clubs} came and Joubert checked behind.

Babakhani checked again when the {2-Diamonds} hit the river. Joubert began counting out even stacks of chips again and asked Babakhani how much he would need to bet to get Babakhani to fold.

"You have to go all in if you want me to fold," Babakhani responded.

Joubert eventually checked and Babakhani showed a missed straight draw with {q-}{j-}. Joubert showed {9-}{9-} and won the pot.

"I wanted to shove that flop," Babakhani said, "but he said he's not going to fold and I believed him."
