Kawauti Doubles Through Liu

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Bruno Kawauti
Bruno Kawauti

Bruno Kawauti, who finished 15th in the 2013 WSOP Main Event and was the "Last Brazilian Standing," raised to 700 from middle position and received a call from Xuan Liu in the big blind. When the flop came down {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, Liu checked and Kawauti bet 900. Liu woke up with a check-raise to 2,400, Kawauti shoved all in for 9,475, and Liu called.

Liu: {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Kawauti: {j-Spades}{q-Spades}

Both players had flopped top pair, but Kawauti's kicker had him way out in front. The {Q-Diamonds} turn actually paired that kicker, and Liu was drawing dead. The meaningless {9-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Kawauti was pushed the pot.
