Break Time

The remaining three players are now taking a 10-minute break. Sebastian Homann of Germany continues to enjoy a large lead over the two Frenchman. We'll get you fresh counts here in just a moment.

Cescut and Homann Go Halfsies

Okay, so we're running out of ways to describe hands ending this way.

Guillaume Cescut made it 100,000 from the small blind, and Sebastian Homann called from the big blind. The flop came {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Cescut continued for 120,000, and Homann called. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, and this time Cescut bet 210,000. Homann called again.

The river was the {5-Spades}. Cescut tried again, pushing out a bet of 350,000. Homann stuck around yet again, turning over {Q-Spades}{2-Spades} for the king-high straight. Cescut showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for the same straight and yet another split pot.

Make That a Triple Double

Guillaume Cescut open-shoved for 510,000 from the small blind with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Sebastian Homann called in the big blind with {a-Spades}{3-Spades}. The {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop made Cescut a set, meaning Homann would need a runner-runner boat or quads to eliminate him. Cescut's rail cheered the {6-Hearts} turn that ensured a safe double up for their man. He's up to 1.035 million. From a high point of 5.4 million, Homann is down to 3.8.

Double Double for Cescut

Guillaume Cescut

Guillaume Cescut shoved blind for about 240,000 from the small blind and Sebastian Homann looked him up blind from the big blind.

Cescut: {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Homann: {3-Spades}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, pairing Homann’s three but making a straight for Cescut to get back over 500,000.

It was the same situation two hands later. Cescut shoved blind for 430,000 from the small blind and Homann called blind again.

Cescut: {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Homann: {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The board came down {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs} giving both straights. Cescut’s was better and he is back around 900,000.

Short Stacks Hanging On

Sebastian Homann folded from the button, then Sebastien Compte pushed all in from the small blind for 775,000. Guillaume Cescut counted out his own chips, noting that he had about 120,000 to spare here, then made the call.

Compte showed {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} while Cescut had {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The board ran out {K-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Compte doubled through to about 1.6 million.

Cescut was all in in the dark on the very next hand with {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} versus Homann's {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}, flopped two sixes, and saw his hand hold up. He's still super short, though, with just 260,000.

Homann Takes Back From Cescut

Guillaume Cescut limped in from the small blind and Sebastian Homann checked his option.

The flop came down {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Cescut bet 50,000. Homann called, and the dealer delivered the {6-Spades} turn card. Cescut bet 110,000 this time and Homann called again. The river then came the {10-Diamonds}. Cescut fired 260,000 into the pot this time, and Homann took a few moments before popping it to 810,000.

Cescut shook his head, having the “I have to call,” look on his face. He did in fact call and show {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for the flopped straight, but Homann’s {10-Clubs}{8-Spades} had him beat.

Homann: Back up to about 4,800,000
Cescut: Back down to about 700,000

Cescut Doubles Through Homann

Guillaume Cescut limped from the small blind, then Sebastian Homann raised to 100,000 from the big blind. Cescut waited a beat, then raised all in for his stack of 845,000, and Homann called.

Cescut turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Homann {K-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, pairing Cescut, and the {3-Hearts} on the turn meant Homann was drawing dead.

Cescut pushes up to about 1.7 million, while Homann falls back to just under 4 million.
