Ten Cate Freerolling From Here On

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jonas ten Cate
Jonas ten Cate

The two Dutch high rollers Jonas ten Cate and Floris van der Ven are seated right next to each other, and the two of them told us a hand together they just played against each other.

Floris van der Ven opened with {A-}{Q-} and Jonas ten Cate made the call with {10-}{10-}. One more player joined in and the three of them saw a flop of {Q-}{Q-}{5-}. After a check from the player in the blinds, Van der Ven made a continuation bet. That bet was just called by Ten Cate, the player in the blinds folded.

A {10-} hit the turn and Van der Ven decided "to do something fancy, and check". Ten Cate "did something fancy as well, and checked behind."

After the two both checked the turn, a {5-} completed the board. Van der Ven made a big bet and Ten Cate called, mucking his lower full house to Van der Ven's effective third nuts.

The two of them smiled about it, discussing that if they played it almost in any other way, the money would've gone in. "I'm freerolling!" Ten Cate said, with his tournament life saved by his creative play.

More For Van den Berg

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Erik van den Berg started the day with a good stack, and things just got even better for him after taking down a sizeable pot.

We picked up the action on the turn when the board showed {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Cor Janssen check-called a bet of 15,000 from Van den Berg.

The river brought the {J-Diamonds} and Janssen checked again, after which Van den Berg bet 38,000 from the button.

Janssen tanked for quite a while, before eventually showing the {9-Hearts} and folding his cards. Van den Berg mucked and raked in this pot.

Vos Couldn't Make It Work Today

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Pascal Vos was one of the seventeen players buying in before start of play today, getting 30 big blinds for his 3,300 hard earned euros.

Those thirty big blinds didn't do him any good today. According to Kees van Brugge, one of his former table mates, Vos opened to 2,300 under the gun holding {A-}{K-}. The player in the cutoff three-bet to 5,500 and Vos four-bet shoved. The cutoff called rather quickly with kings, and Vos made no miraculeus suck out.

Van Brugge himself has 90 big blinds to play with at the moment, he has 90,000.

Hoogendoorn Eliminated

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Robert-Jan Hoogendoorn just explained to us how he lost all of his chips, and the story went as following.

Pieter de Korver raised to 2,200 under the gun plus one and Hoogendoorn moved all in over the top for 12,800 holding {A-}{J-}. The action folded to the player in the big blind, who made the call, and De Korver folded.

Hoogendoorn was up against {A-}{Q-} and the board brought {8-}{6-}{5-}{5-}{5-} and the Dutchman was knocked out.

Salter Busts Tjauw Foe

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Louis Salter
Louis Salter

Clyde Tjauw Foe opened before the flop from middle position and his neighbor Louis Salter made the call. Sylvain Loosli over called and the three of them took a flop of {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Tjauw Foe made a continuation bet of 4,500 and just Salter called, Loosli folded.

The {10-Hearts} on the turn made Tjauw Foe bet 10,500 and once more Salter called.

The {6-Clubs} hit the river and Tjauw Foe checked. Salter thought about it for less than a minute before shoving all in. Tjauw Foe instantly called, but mucked upon seeing Salter's top two with {10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Tjauw Foe told David Boyaciyan he played an over pair to the board, and was calling anyway so didn't need to Hollywood and tank. Salter bought back in this morning, but already worked up his 30,000 stack to 138,000.

Sakhraov Buffs it All to Moreira de Melo

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Ivan Sakharov started the day with 119,800 chips, but those have all melted away like snow on a bright sunny day.

"He basically bluffed them all away," Moreira de Melo said, as she was the recipient of the Sakharov's last chips.

Sakharov raised to 2,400 before the flop and Moreira de Melo three-bet from the cutoff to 6,000. The action folded back to Sakharov, and he called.

The flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Sakharov checked to Moreira de Melo who bet 7,000. Her opponent check-raised all in for 29,800 and Moreira de Melo went into the tank.

Sakharov talked his way through the entire tanking process, and Moreira de Melo tried to pick up on some tells. After a while she called, and Sakharov did not like what he saw.

Moreira de Melo: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Sakharov: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Spades}, {4-Spades} and Moreira de Melo raked in the pot.
