Marvin Heading Straight Up

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Quite a recovering from Marvin Rettenmaier in the last hour, he's back over a million chips after Sam El Sayed paid off a 116,000 bet on the river of a {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{K-Spades}{4-Clubs} board only to be shown{J-Clubs}{9-Spades} by the German.

Lynn Gilmartin spoke with Rettenmaier during a break yesterday:

El Khoury Doubles Up

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

We have just had our seventh double up in the past few levels, this time it was Joseph El Khoury who is the owner of someone else's chips.

Artur Voskanyan opened to 45,000 under the gun and was called by Ran Azor on the button. El Khoury moved all-in for 250,000 and when Voskanyan folded Azor made the call.

Azor: {A-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
El Khoury: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

By the river the board read {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and El Khoury doubled up.

Sam El Sayed Doubles Up!

We just wrote about our seventh double up, scrap that, make it eight.

Gilboa Yossi opened to 42,000 under the gun and then called when Sam El Sayed moved all-in for an additional 269,000 from the small blind. El Sayed turned over {A-Hearts}{k-Hearts} to Yossi's pocket eights.

El Sayed caught an ace on the flop, it held, and the former WPT Amneville champion survives.

Azor Loser

It was a fourway raised pot, Erik Cajelais had raised to 40,000 with calls from Ran Azor, Victor Paraschiv and Walid Bou Habib.

The {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop was checked to Azor who bet 80,000 and Paraschiv was the sole caller. On the {5-Hearts} turn, Azor bet 80,000 a second time and again Paraschiv just called.

The {9-Hearts} came on the river and Azor now checked, Paraschiv fired a chunky 205,000 - Azor made the call after some debate.

The Russian showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the back door flush, beating Azor's own {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Sam El Sayed Eliminated in 11th Place ($19,110)

Sam El Sayed
Sam El Sayed

Just moments after writing about Sam El Sayed doubling up, he has been eliminated.

His chips went into the middle with El Sayed holding {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Kiryl Radzivonau holding {A-Spades}{10-Spades}. It was a dream flop for Radzinovau, but a nightmare one for El Sayed, as it came down {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. This was followed by the {9-Clubs} turn and the {7-Clubs} river and we are down to 10 in the Main Event.

El Khoury Doubles Up

Joseph El Khoury raised to 41,000 from late position before Victor Paraschiv made it 101,000 in the seat next to him. El Khoury made the call with about 300,000 behind.

The flop was {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} and El Khoury checked, Paraschiv bet 75,000 and the short-stack moved all in.

Paraschiv looked pained but after making some calculations, he made the call.

Paraschiv: {J-Spades}{10-Spades}
El Khoury: {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The {8-Spades} on the turn gave Paraschiv a straight draw but the {8-Clubs} river meant that El Khoury lives again.

A Couple Of Small Pots

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Since going ten-handed the speed of play has gone down drastically; nobody wants to bust out with the official final table within their grasp.

In one recent hand Ran Azor and Kemal Sevevi got to the turn of a {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board but Azor got out of the way when Sevevi bet 200,000 and left himself just 155,000 behind.

A few hands later, Kiryl Radzivonau opened to 41,000 from middle position and Artur Voskanyan made the call from the cutoff. The pair shared a {4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and when Radzivonau made a continuation bet of 50,000 Voskanyan quickly folded.
