“They should be buying a ticket”. Thater and Selbst are mixing it up, and playing a few pots here and there…but no one else at the table seems interested in playing any pots.
Its been easily an hour since our chip leader entering the day, Frauke Ritter Von Sporschill has played a hand of any significance. Since taking a bad beat on an A-K vs A-K hand early on - Frauke has been virtually silent. She is still third in chips, but like the rest of the table is a far cry from Katja's monster stack.
Not a lot of action, and the players are playing with as much hesitation as this reporter has ever seen at a WSOP final table. The players are playing right into Katja's hands. No one is contesting her, and she can wait to pick good spots to play big pots in.
Randi Calabro hasn't played many pots. So, it could have been a sign when she moved from early position. Vanessa Selbst must have thought Randi was on a move, cause she re-raised with a A-7. Unfortunately, Calabro had , and had Selbst crushed. The board brought an ace, but no seven, and Randi Calabro doubled up through Selbst, who may be tilting a little.
Mindy Trinidad and Katja Thater get it all in with for Mindy, and for Katja. The flop puts Katja WAY ahead with a set of sixes, but the turn brings some outs for Trinidad. Mindy can double through Katja with a seven. and indeed the comes on the river to save Mindy from elimination. Katja Thater goes backwards for the first time in a long time.
The one woman who was standing up to Katja Thater at the table is no longer at the table. Vanessa Selbst moved all in with , and Katja Thater re-raised to isolate with . The board did not look too promising on the flop , but the turn opened up some outs, when the fell. No gut shot, or Ace for Vanessa, and she has to be disappointed with an 8th place finish. Vanessa won $20,480 for her play.
You Know….the one that goes “Slow….Slow….Quick..Quick….Slow”
Sing along in your head, instead replacing the Slow/Quick with “raise…fold…..raise..raise…fold” – and you will get an idea of the rhythm of the play. We’re not seeing a lot of flops….and if you think I’m reaching with this post – you’re right.
A short-stacked Mindy Trinidad moves in with . She is so short, she gets called by Anne Heft in the big blind with . Anne flops a gutshot, but other than that the board never improves, and Mindy Trinidad doubles up, but is still pretty short.
Mindy Trinidad moves in with , and gets **gasp** a call from Anne Heft in the big blind with . Trinidad must be living right, as she catches a king on the flop. Heft can still catch an ace, or a queen, but no help comes and Trinidad has doubled up for the third time in the last hour or so. It works every time but the last time...
