David Gee Doubles Up

Tom Koral limped into a pot and David Gee checked in the big blind. The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Gee check-raised Koral, who called. After the {Q-Diamonds} hit on the turn Gee bet the rest of his chips, Koral called, and Gee turned over {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for two pair. But Koral had an open-ended straight draw with {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}, a draw that failed to come in when the {5-Clubs} appeared on the river.

A Quiet Gathering

The spectators lining the rail just a few feet from today's final table are a quiet lot, not a lot of noise or commotion to bother the players, just subdued chatter and occasional words of support for their friends fighting for the bracelet. Almost like the spectators at a golf tournament--quiet, reserved, polite.

Thor Hansen At His Ease

Thor Hansen has two World Series of Poker bracelets and he seems to be enjoying himself as he tries to win his third. Most of the time he has a bemused smile on his face, he's gotten the other players to laugh a few times, and he seems perfectly relaxed.

Until...he's watching two other players involved in a hand. Then he leans forward and intently observes the action, picking up whatever information is out there to be learned.

Tom Koral Eliminated in 6th Place

David Gee raised to 40K and Tom Koral called in the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}, Koral checked, Gee bet, and Koral came in with the check-raise. Gee called and the two players saw the {9-Diamonds} hit on the turn. Koral bet the last of his chips and Gee called. Gee filled in a gutshot straight draw with that Nine on the turn and that left Koral drawing dead with pocket Sevens. Tom Koral finished in 6th place and won $54,356.

Saro Getzoyan Wins a Monster Pot Against David Gee

Just as things slowed down a bit, the biggest pot of the day. Before the flop David Gee raised and Saro Getzoyan re-raised. Gee called and they saw a flop of {6-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Getzoyan bet and Gee called, and then after the {3-Spades} hit on the turn Gee raised Getzoyan, who just called. He also just called Gee's bet on the river when the {4-Hearts} fell.

When the cards were flipped over Getzoyan's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} had beaten Gee's {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. Gee slammed his fist on the table as he saw how unlucky he'd been to run into the only hand bigger than his Kings. That pot sent Getzoyan up to nearly 880K and Gee down to 100,000.

David Gee Is Eliminated in 5th Place

After losing that cruel hand where his pocket Kings ran into pocket Aces, David Gee was eliminated in 5th place by Thor Hansen. Gee moved in the last of his chips with {K-Spades}{7-Spades} and Hansen called with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The flop provided no help but the {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Gee a few extra outs, but the {10-Clubs} on the river gave Hansen a set. Gee receives $68,850 for his fifth-place finish.

William Thorsson Re-Takes the Chip Lead

After he won a huge pot from Geoff Sanford. Thorsson raised and Sanford and Thor Hansen both called in the blinds. The flop came {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Thorsson led out. Hansen called, Sanford raised and, after Thorsson called, Hanson chose to get out of the way.

The turn brought the {K-Diamonds} and Sanford led out for 60K. Thorsson raised and Sanford called. The {7-Spades} fell on the river and this time Sanford check-called Thorsson's bet. Thorsson turned over the {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the full house and Sanford mucked his cards.
