I Am The Wahlroos

Our first 'name' player of the day is out. Thomas Wahlroos and his opponent get it all in on a {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Wahlroos flips over A A, and his opponent grimaces, as he turns over A K. The river is the {K-Spades}, and Thomas Wahlroos has been eliminated.

Some Notables Spotted in the Field

Burt Boutin, 2007 WSOP bracelet winner in the $5K PLO event is in the field today. So is Dan Schmiech, 2005 WSOP bracelet winner in the $2K Limit Hold'em event.

Wendeen Eolis is also in the house. In 1993, Wendeen Eolis was the first woman to money in a WSOP Main Event. Her 20th finish scored her a whopping $12,000 in a field of 220 players.

Steve Dannenmann Doubling Up

No, not doubling his chips, at least not yet. Dannenmann is playing in today's $1,500 No-Limit Hold-Em event...and he's still alive in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold-Em event that resumes at 3pm today. Steve made the money last night in the $2K and right now he's doubtless hoping to build a stack big enough to endure the blinding off that'll take place when he hops back to the other event.

Thing is, as Steve took his seat at Table #22, Seat 5, another player showed up a few minutes ago with the same seating assignment. Their two cards were compared and, yes, they were both assigned the same seat. So that adds an extra complication to what should be a very busy day.

Toasty in the Tent

Harrah's has been working on making the supplemental seating in the tent a little more comfortable, but it is definitely still on the warm side. We overheard a player say to a cocktail waitress, "You can make more money fanning me today that you can by bringing me drinks.

Shannon Elizabeth Has Been Eliminated

Another player who cashed in last night's $2,000 No-Limit Hold-Em event was Shannon Elizabeth, who busted out in 150th place shortly before play was stopped for the night. She won't be making another deep run today, alas, as she was crippled in an early hand and a few hands later bet the last of her chips with K-J. A player with A-K called and brought an early end to her day.
