The Draw

They're starting to announce the pairings for the first round, and they're also going to announce the players who have byes.

Actually, it was just announced that Justin Bonomo has a bye. So if you're hoping to keep up with ZeeJustin's progress, you'll have to wait till 5pm when his 2nd-round match is scheduled to begin.

We'll list more byes and matchups as we hear them.

Not-So-Brief Delay

Okay, it looks like we'll be starting around 1 p.m. . . . or later. They're about to do the draw for the opening-round matchups at the podium and they're inviting players to watch to make sure everything is on the up-and-up. Some players will receive first-round byes, which was a point of contention for some, and anyone who wishes can watch as the brackets are put together.

So, as we said, today is going to be interesting.

Brief Delay

Today's event was scheduled to kick off at 12 noon PDT, but there's just been an announcement that the start will delayed. We heard it might be as much as a half-hour, but we'll keep you posted.

Interesting Times

Just about every person I've talked to about today's Heads-Up event has said the same thing-- "This is going to be interesting." Which reminds me of that old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times."

Right now the dealers are lining up to get their assignments, which is in and of itself interesting. There will be TWO dealers at each table, sitting at opposite ends (in the three seat and the eight seat, approximately). And there will be two different heads-up matches at each table, with the players sitting across from each other. There will be plenty of room...but having two different matches going on simultaneously might makeit feel a bit more cramped than it actually is.

We'll be updating the progress of as many matches as possible right here, on the blog. You can't do more than double up in a heads-up match, obviously, so there won't be anyone racing out to a huge chip lead. We'll do our best to update you on as many matches as possible and let you know who has advanced, and who's been eliminated.

Join us at Noon for the Heads Up Event

Event # 31 is one of the more unique events on the schedule. The $5k buy in Heads Up event will have a reported field of 512 players. Each table will host two heads up matches at once, which should be interesting to follow.

We will keep the chip counts of each match in the blog. That way, each players chip count can be in context - you know how many his opponent has also. The chip count page will be used to show who advanced on to the next round.

Reportedly, we have three rounds of play today. Round one starts at Noon, round two at 5pm, and round three at 10pm. This will have us at 64 players at the end of the days play.

Join us at Noon Las Vegas time as we cover this unique event.
