Doubling Up In Two Easy Steps

Two hands in quick succession allowed Shane Beckham to double his stack. In the first, he called a 3,700 raise in position with pocket eights, called a 4,000 bet after a Q-Q-6 flop, checked the Q on the turn, and called another 4,000 bet after the {7-Diamonds} hit on the river. His opponent showed an unimproved A-K and Beckham's stack increased from 34,000 to 48,000.

A few hands later, the player in the cutoff raised to 4,000 and Beckham re-raised to 10,000 from the big blind. The other player called and they saw a {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} flop. Shane bet 15,000, the other player folded, and Shane showed the {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}. He is now up to 68,000.
