Bill Chen Misses Straight

With the board showing {Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades} a player in middle position bet 300, Bill Chen raised to 800, the player in the big blind reraised all-in for 1,700, the middle-position player folded and Chen called. Chen had the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for a missed straight. His opponent had {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair and took the pot. After the hand, Chen hed 3,800.

The Task At Hand

Despite the less than ideal conditions in the outdoor Player's Pavilion, most (if not all) of the folks playing in "the tent" do not seem to mind. It's quite apparent that they are here to play poker and hopefully get their share of what is shaping up to be a record-setting prize pool for this event.

Outside Looking In

Walk around the hallways outside the Amazon Room and the vibe you pick up is that of an evacuation center. People are sitting on the floor, they're clustered in little groups around officials with clipboards, and every few minutes you hear those officials shouting out instructions. Inside the room there's a line of those lucky few who've already heard their names called. There are still a lot of people waiting to take their seats.
