Keikoan Wins 100K Pot!

It is a battle of the blinds, between Fabio Monteiro and Matt Keikoan. Monteiro completes from the SB and Keikoran makes it 2,100 from the BB. Monteiro calls and the flop comes {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}. Monteiro check-raises to 30,000 behind a 3,000 bet from Keikoan and Keikoan makes the call.

The turn card is the {J-Clubs}.

Monteiro fires out 30,000 and Keikoan moves all in for 67,000. Monteiro insta-calls and opens {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, but Keikoan has the {K-Spades}{J-Spades}. The river card is the {2-Diamonds} giving Keikoan the pot and taking his stack up to 170,000.

Flack Talks It Up and Takes It Down

On a flop of {10-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Diamonds} in a multiway pot with 15,000 already in the pot, Layne Flack reaches into his stack, grabs a bunch of chips and slides them in. It is folded around to the last player to act who asks for a count. It turns out that he has heavily overbet the pot and the player goes into the tank. They have been trading blows for some time, and the player says to Flack:

"Why do you always do that when I have a hand?"

Flack replies "Well, the book says you are a loose-aggressive player and this is how I should play against you."

They banter for a while and the player eventually folds, giving Flack the pot.

Two Pros Tangle

Michael Binger On The Move
Michael Binger On The Move
Michael Binger has just taken a big pot off Prahlad Friedman. Here's how it happened:

We caught up with the action on the turn, Michael having checked to Prahlad and now facing his 7,000 bet. The board showed {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Michael eventually called the bet and when the river came {6-Hearts} he led out with a 15,000 bet. Prahlad went into the tank for a good five minutes, asking the dealer to spread the pot for him. After staring at the 28,000 in the middle of the table for another few minutes he made the call.

Michael announced "straight" and showed {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Prahlad reluctantly mucked.

The Vinnie Vinh Saga Continues

Vinnie Vinh
Vinnie Vinh
Still no sign of Mr. Vinh. His chip stack has now eroded to a modest 19,775. Basic math tells us that he (or "his chair" if you prefer) will in fact see Day 2b. Vinh's absence may well redefine the term "three-peat." Those of you "in the know" are well aware that this is neither the first, nor the second, but in fact the THIRD time that Vinh has gone AWOL from a tournament at what could only be described as a rather "clutch" time. Will he return? No one seems to know. Stay with Pokernews.com as we bring you the latest updates on this and other headlines from the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.

David Chiu Doubles Up

A middle position player raised to 1,800 and was called by both blinds, David Chiu being the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Both blinds checked and the original raiser bet out 3,000. The small blind folded and Chiu moved all in for 12,275. After asking a few probing questions, his opponent said "Okay, I'll pay you off" and tossed in two 5,000 chips.

Chiu was a long way in front with his {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} against his opponent's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. The turn card was the {9-Clubs} giving Chiu's opponent a flush draw but the river {8-Hearts} saw Chiu raking in all the chips.

Gavin Smith Runs Into Rockets

Russell Rosenbloom raised to 2,000 from middle position and Gavin Smith made the call from late position. The flop came {J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Rosenbloom bet 2,500 and Smith made the call. Both players checked the turn and river which came {J-Clubs} and {7-Clubs}. Rosenbloom showed A-A and Smith mucked. Smith's stack slipped down to 15,000 while Rosenbloom is now working with 35,000 chips.
