Count Down Begins for Day 2B

We are one hour from start time for Day 2B. Day 1C & 1D have been combined and there are 1,303 starters today. Cards will be in the air at noon, so stayed tuned for all the action from the Amazon Room.

Players Are Being Seated

Action for Day 2B should start in a few minutes. Players have been let inside the Amazon Ballroom. They are taking their seats and unbagging their chips. Stay tuned for live coverage of Day 2b.

Vinnie Vinh on the Rail

There has been plenty of speculation on whether or not Vinnie Vinh would show up today. Well, he's here. He was spotted on the rail next to his table eating an ice cream bar.

Vinh ended Day 1d with 3,200 in chips. He had over 30,000 around dinner break then disappeared. He never returned to the Amazon Ballroom after the break. He was blinded down and his empty chair advanced to Day 2b with 3,200 in chips.

There were rumors that his backers hired bodyguards to insure that he shows up. One thing is for sure, Vinh is here.

What Are the Odds?

Allen Cunningham and his longtime girlfriend Melissa Hayden are both sitting at Table 22. Surprised, I asked, "What are the odds?" Then Dave O'Neil added, "What are the odds that I'd be sitting between them?"

As you'll recall, Allen Cunningham reached the final table last year, and he is ready to make another run this year. This is the third straight year that Cunningham has had a fantastic Series, with a bracelet each year and WSOP Player of the Year honors back in 2005.

First Elimination of the Day

The first victim of the day was Tom Daly, who pushed all-in on the first hand with {K-Spades}{3-Spades} and was called by his opponent who held {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

Flop: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, giving Daly a straight draw, but the {4-Clubs} on the river sealed his fate.

Vinnie Vinh Eliminated

On the second hand of play at his table, the action was folded to Vinny Vinh and he moved all in for 3,000 from two off the button. The big blind said, "I call blind." Vinh turned over {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} saying "it's my favorite hand," while the big blind tabled {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The turn was the {9-Spades} making Vinh two pair, but the river was the {K-Spades}, making a higher two pair for the big blind and eliminating Vinh.

After wishing his opponents luck, Vinh made a hasty exit from the Amazon Room.

Daniel Negreanu, Off and Running

Negreanu is sitting at the ESPN Feature Table to start off the day and he just won the first hand of the day. He called a 3,200 raise before a {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, and when his opponent led out for 4,000 Negreanu raised 8,000 more. The other player folded and Negreanu showed A-K. He's now up to 57,500.

Bad Start/Good Start for Bill Gazes

When Bill Gazes arrived, he rushed to Table 76, seat 7 to open up his chips and get ready to play. There was just one problem -- it wasn't his seat, or his chip bag.

Gazes got his wires crossed a bit, and he's actually sitting at Table *16*, seat 7.

Shortly after play began, the button raises to 3,000, and Gazes moves his short stack all in from the small blind for 14,300. The button folds, and Gazes increases his stack to about 19,000 in chips.
