Shuffle Up and Deal

We start off every day here at the Main Event with Tournament Director Jack Effel reciting a few rules and regulations, and then he hands the microphone over to some poker luminary to officially get play under way. Today the honors went to PokerNews' own Jonno Pittock, who thanked our indefatigable floor reporters for their hard work during the whole Series before cutting right to the chase and announcing, "Shuffle Up and Deal".

Negreanu Doubles Up

Daniel Negreanu called an all-in by an opponent who had him covered, on a flop of {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. His opponent turned over A-Q while Daniel showed A-5. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Daniel asked the dealer not to lay another 6 down.

The dealer obligied, peeling off the {10-Spades} on the river. Negreanu doubled up, his tournament life safe, for now.

Chad Brown Straightens Out to Bust a Player

With the board showing {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the turn, a player is all in with {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} against Chad Brown's {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} -- Brown flopped a king-high straight. The meaningless river card was the {4-Diamonds}, and Brown busted his opponent as he increased his stack to more than 95,000.

Chad Brown ended the preliminary events on a high note, finishing second in Event #54 ($5,000 NL 2-to-7 Draw). He was denied his first WSOP bracelet by 8-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel.

J.C. Tran Adding Chips To His Stack Early

Russell Rosenblum raises under the gun to 2,600, J.C. Tran calls right behind him, the big blind reraises to 6,000, Rosenblum calls, and Tran calls. The flop comes {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, the big blind checks, Rosenblum bets 16,000, Tran moves all in, and the other players fold. Tran shows {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the queen-high flush as he takes the pot, increasing his stack to 142,000.

"All-in And a Call!"

That is the phrase being constantly yelled across the Amazon Room in just the first twenty-five minutes of play so far today. Yesterday, players busted out in rapid fashion and today seems to be more of the same. Tournament staff are doing a great job keeping up with all the bust outs and not a minute has passed here where the "all-in and a call!" phrase hasn't been yelled. With almost 300 more players today than yesterday, it will be interesting to see how many are left at their stop time today.

Phil Gordon Eliminated

Phil Gordon is all in preflop from a blind position for 12,000 with {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} against his opponent's {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. The board comes {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and his opponent wins the pot with two pair, kings and jacks.

Phil Gordon is eliminated from the Main Event.

Allen Cunningham Takes Down a Reraised Pot

A player raises from late position to 3,500, the button reraises to 10,500, Allen Cunningham goes into the tank for a while in the small blind before he calls, and the original raiser calls.

The flop comes {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and all three players check. The turn card is the {J-Hearts}, Cunningham bets 15,000, and everyone folds. Cunningham picks up the pot, increasing his stack to about 79,000.

Gank Out

Brett "Gank" Jungblut has been eliminated. He moved all in from the button. Two players called. Gank's {A-Hearts}{3-Spades} could not beat out a set of Jacks and he headed to the rail.
