John Bird Shows Down a Winner

We caught up to this hand on the flop. The board read {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Zachary Clark bet 48,000 from middle position and John Bird called from the button. The turn brought the {5-Clubs}. Again Clark bet, this time 50,000, and Bird called. The river came the {10-Clubs}. Clark put on the brakes and checked. Bird slid out 150,000 and Clark made the call. John Bird showed {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Clark mucked. With that pot, Bird climbed to 1,240,000 chips, while Clark slipped to 285,000.
