Black Takes a Small Hit

Andy Black was first to act and checked the {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} board. A player in early position behind Black checked as well, and a third player in the hand made it 4,000 to go. Black made the call, after which the early position player moved all-in over the top for a total of 10,200. The original bettor called, as did Black, creating a heads-up sidepot.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and both Black and his opponent opted to see a free river.

The last card off the deck was the {5-Diamonds} and Black fired out a 5,000 bet; his opponent called.

The side pot was settled first and Black showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair with an Ace kicker, but his opponent showed a pocket pair of Kings to take the side pot. Kings would ultimately be enough to scoop the entire pot, as the player who moved all-in on the flop mucked his cards after he saw the Kings.

Black took a loss on the hand, but is still in fine shape at 120,000 chips.
