David "The Dragon" Pham
David "The Dragon" Pham
After a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} Ram Vaswani checked from the small blind and David "The Dragon" Pham bet 800. Vaswani then check-raised to 2,800, Pham reraised to 7,800, and Vaswani moved all-in. Once all the chips were in the middle Vaswani turned over {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the flopped straight and Pham turned over the...{7-Spades}{8-Spades} for the same straight and a straight-flush draw.

When the {4-Diamonds} hit on the turn Pham was freerolling for the entire pot, but the river brought the {4-Clubs} and after the chop they were both back where they started, with both holding around 16,000.

Galfond "Off"-Line

Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond saw a flop of {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} with Barny Boatman. On the turn of the {Q-Spades}, Galfond bet 2,300 after Boatman checked. Boatman then reraised to 5,300 and Galfond called.

The river brought the {7-Spades} and Boatman led out for 3,000. Galfond folded and is now down to 8,200 chips while Boatman increases to 36,000.

Negreanu Sags His Head

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu raised to 800 from early position. Two players behind him in middle position called. Three players took a flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Negreanu was first to act and checked. The next player bet 1,600 and was called by the other middle position player and also by Negreanu.

On the turn, the {J-Clubs}, Negreanu decided to lead out for 2,600 and only the player that bet the flop called.

Play was heads up going to the river and the {K-Diamonds} fell. Negreanu led out again for 3,500 this time and his opponent instantly moved all in. After some thought, Negreanu mucked his hand as he looked down at his dwindling stack of 8,300 chips.

Erik Seidel Doubles Through Hevad Khan

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel
Ralph Perry opened the pot from the cutoff, Hevad "Rain" Khan reraised to 2,000, and Erik Seidel three-bet to 10,000. Perry folded, Khan four-bet, Seidel moved all in and Khan called.

Seidel K-K
Khan Q-Q

The board blanked out and Seidel's kings held up. He increased his stack to 37,000 while Khan was left with about 8,000.

Phil Laak Cripples Theo Tran

With the board reading {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades} on the river, Theo Tran bet 5,000 and Phil Laak moved all in for 19,000. Tran agonized for several minutes over his decision, asking the dealer if he could turn up his cards without folding. As that is against the TDA rules (and he would incur a time penalty for doing so) the dealer would not budge and Tran finally folded, leaving himself with only 4,000 in chips.

After the hand, Laak was up to 38,000.

No Royal Treatment Here

Kathy Liebert and Jan von Halle to her right were just involved in a hand in which Liebert checked the river and von Halle checked behind. Sure, this isn't too big of a deal, but von Halle checked behind with a royal flush.

As soon as the hands were turned over, Andy Black, Joe Sebok, and Amnon Filippi all jumped from their seats and yelled for the floor to come over. Von Halle was given a warning for collusion as he checked the absolute nuts last to act on the river.

The other players at the table chuckled, but all understand the seriousness that can ensue. The tournament directors that came to the table didn't find this a laughing matter at all.
