Laak Attacks the Bubble

Phil Laak
Phil Laak
Players have been on the bubble for some time now and Phil Laak has been taking full advantage of it. He's raised almost all of the hands during hand-for-hand play and has chipped up nicely.

In the most recent hand, Laak raised to 13,000 preflop and was called by Mike Sowers on the button. The flop came {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and both players checked.

When the turn came the {7-Diamonds}, Laak led for 15,000. Sowers called.

The river came the {2-Hearts} and Laak asked the dealer for a pot count. The dealer announced "Sixty-three, five." and then Laak made a bet of 38,000.

After some thought, the 21-year-old Sowers made the call, but mucked his hand when Laak showed his ladies, the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Laak has built up to 250,000 and Sowers is down to 190,000.
