Fives Good Enough for Negreanu

In seven-card stud and with a board of 4-4-Q-A, Chris Reslock called a bet on the river from Daniel Negreanu, the latter showing 3-4-5-8 on the felt. "I can beat the fours," bragged Kid Poker, revealing A-5-J in the hole for a pair of fives and the eight low. Reslock mucked.

Raymer Takes a Hit

Jeff Schulman has just taken a pot off Greg Raymer, the betting capped on fourth street with Raymer check-calling the rest of the way.

Raymer = {8-Spades}

Schulman = {A-Hearts}

On the poker see-saw, whilst Raymer drops to 4,100, Shulman rises to 6,300.

Negreanu Drops a Few

Daniel Negreanu and Chris Reslock played a hand of stud down to the river. When they turned over their cards, Reslock was delighted to discover that not only did his 7-low beat Negreanu's 8-low, but his A-K high also pipped Negreanu's A-Q high, scooping him the pot.

Negreanu clawed back a little on the next hand, though. Negreanu bet, to which Reslock's response was to ask, "If I fold, will you show?" Negreanu agreed, and Reslock showed Q-Q. He was rewarded for his discipline by Negreanu showing him A-A.

Do These Guys Sleep?

The World Series can be a gruelling affair for many players, especially if they finaled the night before. Justin Bonomo and Roland de Wolfe, for example, made the final of the mixed-limit event yesterday, yet instead of taking a day off and dusting off the old cobwebs before re-entering the battle scene, both have jumped head-first into today's seven-card stud/Omaha event in search of that much-desired shiny gold bracelet. Can they last the pace, or will fatigue finally set in?

Shannon Shan't Be Taking the Lead Just Yet
