Jett Set

In fact, he made a full house by the turn.

Chip Jett (possibly my favorite name ever) saw an Omaha flop with his table neighbor, both of them in mid-position. The flop was {4-Spades} {8-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} and Jett bet. His neighbor called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and again Jett bet and his neighbor called, and again on the {6-Spades} river. Jett flipped over the massive {A-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} to scoop the lot. He's now Jett-ing ahead, on 9,000.

No Go for Kravchenko

I vill destroy you
I vill destroy you
With two raises before him, Alex Kravchenko raises it up with the {3-Clubs} showing, but slows down on the next street, calling bets with {K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Kravchenko then mucked when his opponent showed a {A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs} in the hole to go with the {2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Diamonds} on board.

Kravchenko is on 4,300.

Pretty Lady Down

Shannon Elizabeth
Shannon Elizabeth
The delectable Shannon Elizabeth has just busted out. Dwindling all day, she found herself in for 150 on the big blind with just 250 left. The small blind put her in, and she was pretty pleased with her two pair, considering -- but her opponent made a straight and, by the by, made this tournament just a little bit uglier, on average.

Jelinek Takes Chip Lead

It's still early days, but it would appear as though your current chip leader is the UK's Steve Jelinek with 14,000 in chips. From Birmingham, England, Jelinek is a regular on the UK scene and enjoyed a string of wins in his local cardrooms before making the final table at the 2007 EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo for over €300,000.

In today's event, Steve confessed to receiving his fair share of monsters, adding, "I've run well in both games, but what can you do when you keep getting good hands?"

That Hits the G Spot

Yo, G
Yo, G
Garrulous Lithuanian Tony G found himself down to just 500 at one point, but has clawed his way back up to 2,200. With his up cards reading {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {J-Spades} {K-Clubs} against his opponent's {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs}, Tony G bet every street and then flipped over {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} to take it.

Down But Not Quite Out

Mobbed
Mobbed
One player who has been suffering of late is Barny Boatman, currently with one leg already out the door with just 400 in chips.

When asked if it had been "one of those days," Barny answered, "It's been one of those lifetimes."

"That's a bit depressing, isn't it?" I said.

"It's okay, I'm a Buddhist," he replied.

Just as I was about to leave the Hendon Mobber to wallow in his chasm of self-pity, Barny added, "Hold on, this could be the one," and duly raised it up in a game of Omaha-8. "I'm only raising because he's watching," Barny informed his opponents as the button, small blind, and big blind all called.

After calling bets of 150, 300, and 300 from the big blind on the {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} board, Barny mucked his hand dejectedly upon being shown {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

"Booooy, that's a strong hand," commented a player sarcastically. Meanwhile, Barny riffled through his remaining 400 (which didn't take too long), before later confessing to holding A-A-9-J with a suited ace.

Noah's Ark

A rather desperate-for-chips Noah Jefferson has doubled up to a slightly-less-desperate 3,000 through Markus Golser. Jefferson's up cards were the {10-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, up against Golser's {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {6-Spades} -- Jefferson just flipped the {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} and it was enough to make Golser muck. Golser is down to 8,000 or so.

Tony G Mounts a Comeback

Tony G, who is mounting a comeback that would put Rocky Balboa to shame, has doubled up with the wheel and is now emerging as a real dangerman with a menacing er... 250 in chips. They're all green 25 chips though, and we all know it's quantity not quality... isn't it?

It really hasn't been a good day for Tony, he even fell off his chair earlier.
