Early Thoughts

Although I haven't managed to get my paws on any form of early-day coffee fix yet, I did find a few moments to leave the comfort of my laptop and chair to meander in and out of the tables.

Overall, the atmosphere appears to be a relaxed, even upbeat, one, with players clearly enjoying the World Series experience. Men Nguyen, in particular, is in jovial mood. Sandwiched between Hoyt Corkins and Todd Brunson (talk about a rock and a hard place), The Master is donning a wacky visor/wig combo that is sure to cause a stir.

Other players looking confident today, and thus lucky enough to be selected as one of my personal picks, include the charismatic, energetic figure of Davood Mehrmand, the annoyingly good-looking Scott Clements, and the foreboding figure of Bill Gazes, the last using the double-chair technique to loom over the table and intimidate his opponents.
