The Bubble Has Burst

Preflop, Jacques Zaicik moved all in and was called by Robert Fox, who had fewer chips than Zaicik. Zaicik showed A-Q while Fox held pocket kings. Things looked good for Fox, until the flop came {Q-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. Fox failed to improve off the turn and river and was knocked out of the event on the bubble.

Thong Tran Eliminates Joe Davis

This time pocket aces held up, as the rest of the money went in on the turn, with the board reading {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {3-Spades}. Davis had a flush draw with {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}, but Tran had already made a full house with {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}, and Davis was eliminated.

Does This Chair Swivel?

Ever see Tori Amos in concert? Me either, but I saw her on TV once and onstage she stands between two pianos and constantly switches back and forth between them in mid-song. Vanessa Selbst is doing something similar (if completely different) right now. She's playing in both today's $2,500 No-Limit tournament as well as today's Ladies' event, and her tables are right next to each other and she's switching back and forth between them as play goes on. She's been up and down in the $2,500 event, sitting now with 37,000, while she has about 32,000 in the Ladies' event.

Mark My Words

One of our field reporters had stopped by Theo Tran's table when Tran pulled him aside and said, "See that guy there?" while pointing to another player at his table. "I'm gonna get all his chips." The player had just shy of 100,000 and the goal would certainly boost Tran into the chip lead.

Sure enough, a few hands later, Tran had eliminated him.

Preflop, Theo Tran made it 5,500 to go and Mike Collins bumped it to 15,000 from the big blind. Theo called and the flop came {Q-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. Collins led out for 14,000 and Theo called. The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Collins fired 20,000 into the pot. Theo called and when the {7-Spades} fell on the river Collins moved all-in for his remaining 42,600. Theo called and Collins showed {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for sevens and threes with an ace kicker while Theo showed A-3 for a full house. After the hand, Theo is up to 275,000.

Recent Eliminations

Now that we've reached the money the eliminations have come fast and furious. Here are the players who busted out just after the bubble:

99th: Matt Sterling
98th: Gregory Sellgren
97th: Joe Davis
96th: Kenna James
95th: David Steicke

Lee Watkinson Eliminated

Lee Watkinson, sitting on just 14,000 in chips, moved all in from the cutoff and was called by Shawn Buchanan. Watkinson turned over pocket twos while Shawn showed K-J. The board was fantastic for Watkinson, as it came {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} giving Lee a set. However, the board ran {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to give Shawn a running straight which eliminated Lee from the event.
