Paul Kobel Lays it Down

Paul Kobel raised before the flop and Asger Boye moved all in from the small blind. Kobel thought awhile before folding pocket kings face up, explaining that he'd been knocked out of an earlier tournament by running kings into aces and that wasn't going to happen this time. Boye didn't show his cards and Kobel hung on to his last 74,000.

Then Again...

In the previous post Paul Kobel folded pocket kings because he feared running into aces. That's exactly what happened to Jason Manger, as he found himself all in with KK and crushed by his opponent's AA. He was on his way out of the tournament when he spiked a king on the river to double up to 210,000. Sometimes you run kings into aces and find a way to crack 'em.

Chris Bell is Out

In keeping with the motif of big pairs running into even bigger pairs, Chris Bell was just eliminated when his pocket queens ran into the pocket aces of Napoleon Ta. Ta now sits with 283,000.

Kobel's Heated Table Manner Gets Penalty and Elimination

In a prior hand, a new player who had just arrived at the table called for a clock on bracelet winner Paul Kobel who was involved in a large pot with another player. Kobel, apparently upset over the clock issue, began to insult and belittle the player for several minutes after that hand concluded. On a later hand, Kobel had moved all-in but before anyone had called, a tournament director arrived to issue Kobel a penalty that would take place after his current hand resolved.

Kobel's all-in was called and Kobel showed pocket tens which ran into another players pocket queens. The queens held up and Kobel was eliminated from the event.

Tran Cools Off

Theo Tran, who had been running incredibly hot today, raised preflop from middle position to 8,500. Both the button and the big blind called the raise and the flop came {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}. Everyone checked around to the button, who moved all-in for 23,600. Everyone else folded and Theo made the call. Theo turned over {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} while his opponent showed {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Theo was unable to improve and is down to 135,000 after the hand.
