Young Guns for Gold

Jason Young
Jason Young
John Strzemp has taken a big hit courtesy of an elated Jason Young who erupted from his seat after winning the pot.

Young kicked off the action with a 170,000 raise from the button. Strzemp made it 500,000 and Schwartz folded, commenting "easy fold" in the process.

It wasn't an "easy fold" for Young though, in fact it wasn't a fold at all, the call for the extra 330,000 a seemingly torturous one as he dipped into the think tank, counted out his chips and slid them across the felt.

On the {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Strzemp bet what appeared to be a cool 1,000,000, which was met by a swift all-in from Young. A momentary dwell later and the pot was Young's,

Strzemp Claws Back

The very next hand, Strzemp clawed back a few of those chips. All three players limped and checked all the way through a {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} flop and to a {J-Diamonds} turn, at which point it checked around to Strzemp, who bet 150,000. Schwartz folded, but Young called. He also called Strzemp's 325,000 bet on the {5-Hearts} river, and then disappointedly mucked when Strzemp turned over {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} for the straight. Strzemp now back up to over three million.

Young versus Schwartz

Jason Young and Mike Schwartz have tangled in a couple of pots recently.

(1) Schwartz makes it 240,000 from the small blind, Young calls from the big. Both players check down the {5-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades} board, Young winning with {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Schwartz showed a {K-Spades}.

(2) Young makes it 200,000 from the button and Schwartz calls on his big blind. Both check the {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop, Schwartz bets 400,000 on the {J-Clubs} turn and Young folds. Young showed {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and I believe mumbled, "I'm not going to chase."

Strzemp Takes a Hit

And right from the off we've encountered a million-plus pot. With the board reading {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, John Strzemp bet 500,000 and Jason Young insta-called. Both players check the {K-Hearts} river, allowing Young to scoop the pot with {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Slow Start to Level Nine

Schwartz steals the blinds with a 330,000 raise from the button.

Young folds the button, Strzemp makes up the blind and Schwartz checks. Strzemp begins to count out 250,000 on the {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} flop, but before he's even bet, Schwartz folds 2-4 face-up.
