Kanter's Huge Call

Bubble Pressure...
Bubble Pressure...
On a board of {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, Aaron Kanter bet 10,000 into a pot of approximately 30,000. His opponent, the "real" Chris Savage, put him to a decision for all of his chips by check-raising all in to over 43,000. Savage had Kanter covered.

Kanter took a full seven minutes to ponder his decision and try to get a read off of Savage. He must have liked something he saw because he made the call, tabling {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs}. Savage turned over a total bluff: {K-Spades} {J-Spades}. The board ran out {10-Hearts} {9-Spades}, allowing Kanter to double up.

Pat White Takes a Bite out of Mark Vos

With 20,000 chips in the pot preflop, Mark Vos and Pat White saw a flop of {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Clubs}. Vos bet 16,000 and was called. He fired again for 20,000 on a turn of {K-Clubs} and again White called.

When the river came {4-Clubs}, Vos slowed down with a check. White bet 14,500. Vos thought for a minute, said, "I know you have tens full," and sent his cards into the muck.

After the hand, Vos retained 16,000 chips while White vaulted to about 176,000.

Cowboys Shot Down

Short-stacked Ryan Morrison put all his chips in the middle with pocket kings. The "real" Chris Savage made the call along with Jeff Hutchison. Savage flopped a set of threes and bet Hutchison (who had flopped a pair of aces) out of the pot. Morrison's kings went from first preflop to worst after the flop. No king came on the turn or river. Morrison's day is over just two spots from the money.

Perry Friedman's creative haircut
Perry Friedman's creative haircut
Lots of people have been asking, "What's up with Perry Friedman's hair?" Many have speculated that he lost a bet or that Full Tilt paid him to shave the Full Tilt logo into both sides of his head. Neither are true. Friedman just decided to do something different.

"It took four hours to do, over two separate days," Friedman said. "Two hours for each side. We shaved it in the first day, and trimmed and colored it the second."

Blowing the Bubble

With just a handful of spots before we hit the money, a few notables have headed to the rail on the bubble. Most notably, Michael Binger and Mike Wattel are among the recent casualties. Marco Traniello is on a short stack, but just survived his all in and doubled up.

Traniello had {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} and got the table bully, David Bach, to go for the knockout with {6-Spades} {8-Clubs} . Traniello is still alive with 12,500.

A Brutal Beat For Arthur Hamilton

Just a few spots off the money, Arthur Hamilton got his money in the best way one can, holding {A?} {A?} . He got one caller holding {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and was looking to double up. Hamilton's position quickly went from first to worst as the flop came down {Q-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. His opponent spiked a set to leave him behind in the hand. The turn and river were no help to Hamilton and he was eliminated less than ten spots from the money.

A Great Time for Aces

Alex Trujano, hanging on with just 15,000 chips, must have been happy to look at his cards and see black aces after Howard Boyd moved all in ahead of him for 13,000. When Boyd showed {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, Trujano must have been ecstatic. The board came out 9-high, sending Boyd to the rail just five spots from the money.

Cracked Aces Result in a Huge Double

We caught up with this hand on the turn. With the board showing {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {7-Spades} {10-Spades} , Arnaud Mattern bet 9,600. His opponent, YM Hu, made the call. Mattern pushed the river {4-Hearts} for almost 26,000.

Hu had Mattern covered and agonized over the call for almost five minutes. A large crowd of players gathered around the table, hoping that Hu would bust Mattern. Hu did eventually make the call with pocket aces. He saw the bad news when Mattern showed him {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} for a turned two pair.

Mattern now has almost 60,000 chips.

Meeting of the Minds

Friedman is a Walking Billboard

A lot of players are up and wandering around now that we are hand for hand. Perry Friedman and Chris Ferguson just had a little get-together, as their tables are nearly adjacent to each other.

A player from a different table wandered over and approached Perry, inquiring about his haircut. Friedman obliged the player with a quick camera phone picture, and Ferguson joined the conversation.

"We tried to get him to do it too," Friedman said, pointing at Ferguson, "but he wouldn't go for it."

The three men shared a chuckle as Jack Effel made the announcement for players to return to their seat.
