Day 1b a Guaranteed Record-breaker

The surest bet in Las Vegas on Sunday is that the World Series of Poker will establish an all-time attendance record for a tourney other than the Main Event itself. The previous record of 3,151, set in 2007, will be wiped from the books as soon as the words "Shuffle up and deal!" are broadcast to the Day 1b starters in the Amazon Room. 2,048 players were on hand for Day 1a action, over 1,550 others had already registered for Day 1b action by Saturday evening, and the combined total attendance is likely to climb past 4,000 players.

Yesterday, David Robertson became one of three players to pass the 100,000 mark in chips, finishing Saturday's Day 1a session at 109,100 chips. One or more Day 1b starters are likely to challenge Robertson's Day 1a performance, determining who will be the overall event leader heading into Monday's Day 2.

Play starts promptly at noon and will continue for eight levels and change, mirroring exactly the amount of time played during the Day 1a session. As always, the best live updates are found right here at PokerNews. Check back early and often!
