Vicious Sica

Ernest Bennett has eliminated Mike Sica. He went on a bit of a raising rampage, moving all in three hands in a row, until Sica called him all in from the big blind with pocket tens. Unfortunately for Sica, Bennett was holding pocket kings, and there was no help for him from the {6-?} {5-?} {Q-?} {8-?} {4-?} board.

Jeffreys Busts Michaels

Young Alex Michaels has busted out. Massive table chip leader Andrew Jeffreys raised from mid to late position, and Michaels reraised all in from the button. The blinds quickly folded, and Jeffreys quickly called.

Jeffreys: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Michaels: {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}

Board: {J-Spades} {8-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

Jeffreys has over 170,000, and Michaels has the consolation of the rail.

Moving on Up

Mike Ellis
Mike Ellis
British pro Mike Ellis has increased his stack by 10,000 within these opening rounds. Last spotted reraising a late-position raiser off his hand from the big blind, Ellis is now on 38,000.

Winner of season one's grand final of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in England, Ellis is one of those players who goes about his business without making much noise, and, come final table time, always seems to snap up a seat unnoticed.

Harrington Doubles Up

Short-stacked Court Harrington is a little less short-stacked now after doubling up against Charles Dolan. All in preflop with A-J against Dolan's pocket sixes, Harrington flopped a straight on the {K-?} {10-?} {Q-?} {2-?} {4-?} board, leaving Dolan drawing dead by the turn.

Harrington on 43,000 now.

Double-up for Paz

A desperately short-stacked Jose Paz has doubled up courtesy of Badih Bounahra, the latter looking good to eliminate his foe with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} against {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

However, a {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} flop was favorable to Paz, his pleas to "hold up" being granted on the blank {4-Clubs} turn and {4-Diamonds} river.

Although Paz doubles through to 14,000, Bounahra still has a highly respectable 71,000.

Jeffreys On Fire

Andrew Jeffreys is on over 200,000 after knocking out another player. Holding a mere A-10 to his opponent's pocket kings, he spiked an ace on the river of the 6-10-8-3-A board to put himself back in the chip lead.

As I was counting his stack, he expanded it further, reraising an opponent preflop and forcing him to fold. As the gentleman folded, Jeffreys turned over A-K.

Justin Time

Ken Justin has won a large pot, virtually doubling him up on the river of an x-A-A-x-x board. Justin turned over pocket nines, and his opponent simply mucked.

Justin is now up to 49,000.

Tim Phan Doubles Through

Tim Phan
Tim Phan
There has been unrest between the short stacks, Tim Phan locking horns with fellow struggler Dane Lomas. On this occasion, it was Phan all in and in dire need of assistance, his {A-Spades}{8-Spades} in bad shape against Lomas' {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

However, on a {6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{3-Spades} board, Phan spiked his ace to stay alive and thus doubled through to the 15,000 mark.

Lomas, meanwhile, drops to the same amount, meaning both players will be looking to push or fold in the upcoming rounds.
