Jonathan Jaffe Advances

Jonathan Jaffe has just defeated Michael McNeil to claim one of the two remaining spots in the 'elite eight.'

The hand saw Jaffe limp into the pot before the flop and McNeil knuckled the table opting to see a free flop: {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, which both players checked.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and Jaffe made a bet that was called by McNeil.

The last card off the deck was the {8-Clubs} and this time Jaffe passed the first action to McNeil who shoved all in. Jaffe made the call and tabled {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} which was good for a straight and McNeil mucked, conceding both the hand and the match.

Kenny Tran Bests Roman Paradiso

Kenny Tran
Kenny Tran
Roman Paradiso has just been eliminated from the tournament by poker pro Kenny Tran.

A {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop invoked all the action as Kenny Tran led out with a 15,000 bet. Roman -- short-stacked -- then moved in over the top of Tran's bet and Kenny made the call, tabling {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} for two pair; Roman showed {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} and found himself drawing quite thin.

The {3-Diamonds} fell on the turn, meaning the best Roman could hope for was a chopped pot, but another three came on the river cementing the hand and the win for Tran.

Roman will take home $36,096 for his efforts.

Grinder Cops a Bad Beat; Selbst Moves On

Over the past ten minutes, Vanessa Selbst crawled her way back into the chip lead and has just dealt the final blow to heads up opponent Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi, bad beat style.

On a flop of {Q-Spades} {3-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, Vanessa check-raised a bet from the Grinder and he made the call. When the {4-Spades} fell on the turn, Selbst open-shoved all in, putting Mizrachi to a decision for all of his chips. Holding {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, good for top pair and an open-ended straight draw, Mizrachi opted to make the call and was pleased to see he was well ahead of Selbst's {9-Hearts} {6-Spades}.

The prospect of a Mizrachi v. Mizrachi elite eight match-up crumbled, however, when the {9-Diamonds} popped off on the end, giving Selbst a match-winning two pair.

Patgorski Eliminated; Griffin Advances

Gavin Griffin
Gavin Griffin
Gavin Griffin just became the fourth player to move into the 'elite eight' after eliminating heads up opponent John Patgorski from the tournament.

According to the dealer, Patgorski check-called bets of 24,000 and 45,000 on the flop and turn: {10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Clubs} {4-Spades}. On the river ({10-Hearts}), Patgorski checked again and Gavin made a 100,000 bet that put John all in. After some thought, Patgorski made the call prompting Griffin to reveal {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} for a full boat. Patgorski then mucked his cards and counted down his chips, apparently unaware that he'd just called them all off.

Gavin will now face the winner of the Michael McNeil v. Jonathan Jaffe match.

Selbst Last 'Deuce' Standing

With the elimination of fellow DeucesCracked.com pros Emil Patel and Jonas Entin, Vanessa Selbst is now the crew's only hope for landing a pro in the elite eight.

At the moment, things are not looking good for the newly christened bracelet winner, as her opponent, Michael Mizrachi, currently holds about a 2.5-1 chip lead over her.
