It's too early to be making any predictions, but this is Tom Schneider's fifth cash already in the year's WSOP. If Schneider goes deep in a few more events or wins a bracelet, he may be a lock for the unprecedented honor of back-to-back Player of the Year awards.

Tom Schneider Stays Active

Tom Schneider just worked his stack up to 44,000 when his {8-?}

bested the {8-?}

of Steven Merrifield. Schneider bet the whole way and Merrifield called him down. Merrifield was crippled to 5,500 and was eliminated a few hands later.

The Year of the Pro?

Tom Schneider was just moved to table of Eugene Katchalov and Jeffrey Lisandro. The three have been chatting it up about Jamie Gold's run in the 2006 Main Event and have been speculating on whether or not this will be the year that an established professional captures the title.

This year has already been great for the seasoned professionals. So far this year, Nenad Medic, David Singer, Erick Lindgren, Rep Porter, Mike Matusow, Vanessa Selbst and Daniel Negreanu have already taken home WSOP gold.
