Dario Slows Down

Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri
With his fierce reputation, Dario Minieri tends to play his big hands equally fast, his non-believing opponents often supplying him with plenty of action. On the last hand, however, Minieri changed gears and decided to slow-play his pocket queens, {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

With the blinds at 4,000 and 8,000 with a running ante of 1,000, Minieri limped under the gun, Todd Terry called from the button, Kevin Song made up the small blind and Scotty Nguyen checked the big.

Flop = {Q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Dario checked his set, his opponents checked behind.

Turn = {6-Diamonds}

With the blinds checking, Minieri decided to lead out for a bet of 16,000 and received two callers in Terry and Song.

River = {2-Hearts}

Again Minieri fired first, quickly chucking 40,000 in the pot. Just the one caller this time, Terry mucking upon being shown the ladies.

A near double-through for Minieri who now sits on 235,000.
