Pffft! Who Needs a Showdown?

Alex Jacob raised to 150 from late position and the small blind called. The flop was {J-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}. The small blind checked, Jacob bet 275 and the small blind called. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {A-Diamonds}. The small blind check-folded to a 1,000 bet from Jacob and he dragged the pot without a showdown.

"Good Catch"

On a flop of {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, the blinds checked, Scott Clements bet 175, the button called and both blinds called. The turn was the {A-Spades}. The blinds checked again, Clements bet 300, the button called and the blinds folded. The river was the {7-Hearts}. Clements bet 900 and the button called.

Clements showed {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} for the straight.

"Good catch" said the button as Clements raked in the pot.

Let the Bad Beat Stories Begin

Not even 30 minutes into level one and the bad beat stories are already surfacing. A clearly disappointed player just wandered over to talk to his friend in the blue section. "What happened?" said the curious friend.

"I ran my full house into quads," replied the wanderer.

"You're kidding!" yelled the surprised friend.

"Nope...he flopped quads...what can you do?"

With no further dialogue between the two, the eliminated player stumbled off, presumably to a cash game to recover his tournament buy-in.
