The Battle of Ponytails

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson just got moved to a table with Annie Duke, and it wasn't long before they got tangled up in a pot. With the {A-Diamonds} showing, Annie raised the bring-in. Brunson and a player in seat four called.

Brunson: ({4-Diamonds} {5-Spades}) {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} ({9-Diamonds})
Seat 4: (X) (X) {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} (X)
Duke: (X) (X) {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {6-Spades} (X)

On fourth street, Annie Duke bet out, and both opponents called. She bet again on fifth, but Brunson raised, having made his seven-five low. Seat four and Duke both called. When Annie hit her black six on sixth street, she again led out, and did so again on seventh. Brunson showed the winning hand though, a pair of nines with that seven-five low.

Prize Pool and Payouts Announced

A total of 261 players entered event #33, the $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo World Championship. 24 places will be paid out and players will earn a little over two times their buy-in for making it to the money.

Chop at the Table of Death

Sabyl Cohen-Landrum and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson recently chopped a pot in a heads-up showdown. Jesus completed the bring-in, and Cohen-Landrum made the call.

Ferguson: ({2-Spades} {4-Hearts}) {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {A-Spades} ({Q-Diamonds})
Cohen-Landrum: ({10-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}) {2-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} ({8-Hearts})

Cohen-Landrum bet the whole way before check-calling a seventh street bet from Jesus. When the hands were turned up, Cohen-Landrum held the high with tens up, and Ferguson took the low with an eight-six.

Tom Schneider couldn't get much going today. On fourth street, Schneider was all in with his small stack.

Opponent: ({7-Clubs}) ({7-Diamonds}) {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Spades}

Schneider's opponent made a flush and Schneider couldn't pull out a full house or a low to win or chop the pot. He was eliminated from today's tournament.

Arieh: {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs}
Raymer: {7-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {A-Hearts}

Their third opponent in the pot had a Broadway straight, but it wasn't good enough, and he sends half his chips to Arieh and Raymer each.

She has chipped up to 12,500 quickly after her late entry.

Edler turned over {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {A-Hearts} for a pair of kings and a seven-five low. Levi mucked his hand and Edler scooped the entire pot with a smile.
