Robert Beveridge completed the bring-in, and Allen Cunningham reraised him.
Beveridge: (X) (X) (X)
Cunningham: (X) (X) (X)
Beveridge led the betting on fourth street, and Cunningham called. On fifth, Cunningham bet, Beveridge raised, and Cunningham called all in. When all the cards were dealt, we saw the showdown:
Beveridge: ( ) ()
Cunningham: ( ) (X)
Allen Cunningham was ahead the whole way, but Beveridge's straight on the river was the winning ticket for him. He knocks out Cunningham in 13th place. Allen was one of the few left who voted to quit for the night when we voted before the break. Now, he can go home and get some sleep, knowing he has a little check waiting for him in the amount of $18,401.
Rouhani found all of his chips in the middle by the end of the hand, as he only had about 30,000 left. Sung made two pair, nines and fives, to bust Rouhani from the tournament. Giang mucked on the end.
Steve Sung and Chau Giang got into the last pot, resulting in all of Giang's chips going into the middle of the table.
Giang: (X) (X) (X)
Sung: (X) (X) (X)
Giang bet out on third, fourth, and fifth streets, getting called down by Sung at each step. On sixth, Giang led again, Sung raised, and Giang called all in.
Giang: ( ) ()
Sung: ( ) ()
Giang failed to make a low hand, and his pair of fives was bested by Sung's pair of sixes. Chau Giang is headed for the rail, taking home $24,534 for his work over the past two days.
No, we haven't fallen asleep quite yet. The lack of updates here is due completely to the style of play, which has closed down dramatically. There are very few highly-contested pots, and even fewer showdowns. Don't worry, you'll know about all the action as soon as it happens. Right now though, it's not happening.
While the style of play has shut down some, the tables are short-handed, and those two factors combined have resulted in the noticeable increase in the speed of play. The hands are coming one after the other, at quite a rapid clip. A couple of the players have commented on the trend.
Bob Lauria: "If we keep playing this fast, I'll be anted out."
Marcel Luske: "If that's what it takes, that's what it takes."
After every hand, Marcel Luske yells over to the other table that either king high won the high half of the pot or that ace-king high won a huge pot. He is trying to get the other table to loosen up a little.
Howard Lederer is commenting back, saying that if ace-king is winning half the pots, they really are gambling over there.
