Flack Likes Queens

In the first hand of five-handed play, Layne Flack raised to 120,000, and Dario Alioto called.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Both players checked. Both also checked the {J-Spades} turn. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Flack bet 200,000. Alioto thought a bit, and made the call.

Flack showed Q-Q-7-2 for queens full of sevens, claiming a nice-sized pot.

The hand after that, Flack and Alioto limped to see a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Flack bet 100,000 and Alioto folded. Flack showed Q-Q-x-x as he took the smaller pot.

The Flack Attack Continues

Daniel Makowsky raised to 140,000, and Layne Flack called from the small blind. The flop came {K-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Both players checked. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Flack quickly bet 300,000.

Makowsky stared at the board for a while, then looked back at his chips. He let it go. Yet another pot for Flack.

The Last Three Hands

Dario Alioto got a walk in his big blind. Then Layne Flack put in a preflop raise from the cutoff, taking the blinds.

In the next hand, Flack and Alioto limped, and both blinds (Makowsky and Fernandez) came along. The flop was {3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Makowsky checked, Fernandez bet 160,000, and all folded.

How to Play a Big Stack

Layne Flack is playing his big stack quite superbly in my opinion. The timing of his bets is spot on. He’s been able to extract the maximum from a hand -- like when he had queens full against Dario Alioto -- or to put a huge amount of pressure on the shorter stacks, like when he forced Dan Markowsky to fold when there were three clubs on board.

It hard to see how anyone can stop him at the moment without getting a hot run of cards.

Alioto Takes a Few from Flack

Dario Alioto raised to 130,000 in the cutoff, and Layne Flack called from the big blind.

The flop came {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and both checked. The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and both checked again.

The river brought the {Q-Spades}. Flack checked, Alioto bet 205,000, and Flack called. Alioto showed K-J-x-x for Broadway. Flack showed just two pair, and Alioto took the pot.

Forrest Doubles Through Flack

Layne Flack limped from the button, Ted Forrest pushed his remaining 130,000 forward from the small blind, and Dario Alioto folded the big blind. Flack made the call.

Forrest: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Flack: {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The flop came {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades}. "That's a bad flop for me!" said Flack. The {A-Spades} on the turn was even worse. The river {2-Hearts} was meaningless, and Forrest doubled up.

The Last Three Hands

1. Dario Alioto picked up a small one from Daniel Makowsky in a blind-vs.-blind hand.

2. Layne Flack raised to 140,000 from under the gun, taking the blinds.

3. Jacobo Fernandez completed from the small blind, Flack raised to 80,000 from the big blind, and after hemming and hawing for a while, Fernandez gave it up.

One for Makowsky

Daniel Makowsky limped, Layne Flack completed from the small blind, and Ted Forrest checked his option.

The flop was the {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. It checked to Makowsky who bet the pot, and Flack and Forrest folded.
