Getting Hard to Breathe in Here

If your name isn't Layne Flack, that is.

Daniel Makowsky raised to 175,000, and Flack called. The flop came {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Flack checked, and Makowsky bet the pot -- 375,000.

Flack stood up and rubbed his chin. After a couple of minutes, he rechecked his cards, then let it go.

Hammerin' Away

Layne Flack completed from the small blind, Daniel Makowsky raised to 175,000 from the big blind, and Flack called. The flop came {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Flack bet 300,000, and Makowsky folded.

Flack Now Has Almost Two-Thirds of the Chips in Play

Flack raised to just 100,000 from the button, Makowsky folded from the small blind, and Fernandez called.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Fernandez checked, and Flack did what Flack has often done lately when you check to him -- he bet the pot (225,000).

Fernandez grabbed his water bottle and took a swig, then hunched forward to consider his options. Finally after a minute or so, he folded.

Flack is up to almost 3.2 million, to 1.1 million for Fernandez and 730,000 for Makowsky.

"Pot!"

Jacobo Fernandez raised to 175,000 from the button, and Layne Flack called from the small blind.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. "Pot!" said Flack. Again.

Fernandez folded.

Jacobo Fernandez Eliminated in 3rd Place ($222,659)

Jacobo Fernandez - 3rd Place
Jacobo Fernandez - 3rd Place
Daniel Makowsky limped from the button, Jacobo Fernandez raised to 200,000 from the small blind, and Layne Flack called from the big blind.

The flop was the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Flack bet pot, Fernandez reraised all in, and Flack called.

Fernandez: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Flack: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Flack had flopped sixes full of tens. Fernandez needed an ace or a ten, or he was done.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and the river the {K-Spades}, and Fernandez was out in third place.

Even so, another terrific showing for Fernandez has vaulted him to the top of the WSOP Player of the Year points race.

First Hand of Heads Up

Daniel Makowsky has the small blind/button. Makowsky limped in, and Flack checked. Both checked the {3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop. The {2-Spades} came on the turn. Flack checked, Makowsky bet 100,000, and Flack called.

The river was the {K-Hearts} and both checked. Makowsky showed 9-2-x-x for two pair, and took the pot.
