Powell Power

On a flop of {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Julian Powell bet 500, the cutoff called, the button raised to 2,550, and Powell reraised all in to 3,700. The cutoff folded and the button called.

Powell showed 10-10-x-x for a set of tens, and his opponent K-Q-x-x for a straight draw. The straight didn't come, and Powell's set held up.

Powell won another hand afterwards, and is now up to 14,800.

Crazy Eights

On a board showing {3-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, an early position player checked, Lee Watkinson bet 1,500 behind him, the EP raised to 15,000, and Watkinson called with the rest of his chips.

Watkinson showed {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a set of eights and a flush draw. His opponent showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for two pair and a gutshot.

The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Watkinson is up to 23,000.

Gold Clubs Opponent

Jamie Gold raised pot on the button, the player in the small blind reraised pot, putting himself all in, and Gold called. Gold had {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and his opponent {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}. "Club!" said Gold. The turn was the {J-Diamonds} and Gold was still behind. But the river was the {8-Clubs}, and he now has 14,000.

Medic Diagnoses Side Bet

Dustin Dirksen and Paul Magriel just made a $50 side bet on what Andy Black had the previous hand. Dirksen had guessed a straight, and Black confirmed.

"Free information is always good," said Nenad Medic.
