Live Poker is Rigged!

Chad Brown was all in. His opponent made quad threes, and Brown, with three aces open on his board, was yet to squeeze his river card. With the appropriate amount of drama, Brown squeezed it... and then dramatically flipped over the case ace! He remains alive in today's tournament.

Landrum Eliminates Player to Pick Up Chips

Sometimes even just one pair is good enough in seven-card stud. That's what Sabyl Landrum found out after one of her two opponents put his last chips in the pot on fifth street. The boards were:

Landrum: {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Opponent 1: {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {K-Spades}
All-in Opponent: {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}

Landrum made only a pair of tens, but that was enough to scoop the pot and increase her stack to about 4,500.

Upwards Pressure

The levels may be an hour long, but the limits do increase quickly in the WSOP stud tournaments. With limits of 300 and 600, the current average stack is about 8,000 chips, or just over 13 big bets. That leads to quick eliminations.

People who have recently been eliminated include: Paul Darden; Doug Carli; "Miami" John Cernuto; Ali Eslami; Keith Sexton; and Allen Kessler.

Chip Accretion

Humberto Brenes has been broken to Orange #10, and like three ducks in a row his tablemates to either side are Amnon Filippi and Greg "FBT" Mueller. Each of the players has well over 10,000 in chips.

Slotbloom Falls

Rolf Slotbloom is the latest player to be knocked out of today's tournament. He started with split aces and managed to get his last 1,200 chips in on third street against Dewey Tomko's buried queens. Tomko made two pair by sixth street; Slotbloom never improved.
