Chad Brown Plummeting

Since the redraw, Chad Brown has lost at least three hands. He is rapidly dropping down the leader board. Most recently, Andre Boyer's trip aces, with two on his board, were enough to take a pot off of Brown. Brown has approximately 39,000 chips.

Pappas Punishes Troy

After Chip Jett brought it in and Sabyl Landrum called, Greg Pappas completed his {K-Diamonds}, only to see Maxwell Troy raise his {K-Clubs}. The two players were the only ones to see fourth street. Neither board developed in a threatening manner, with Pappas showing {K-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {7-Spades} against Troy's {K-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {4-Diamonds}.

Pappas said, "I'll check it going in," as the river was dealt. Troy checked behind.

"Kings," said Pappas. He opened {A-?} {K-?} {J-?} in the hole. "Kings with ace, queen, jack." Troy glanced at his own cards, then mucked.

"Were just kings enough?" Pappas asked with grin. Troy didn't answer.

Brown Staunches the Bleeding

Chad Brown
Chad Brown
In a turnabout for Chad Brown, a pot was recently pushed his way. Danny Kalpakis decided to tangle with Brown, raising split queens on third street after Brown completed his own split kings. Neither player improved, but there was action on every street except the river.

Brown is now up to 56,000 in chips, while Kalpakis slips to 60,000.

Good Laydown

Danny Kalpakis didn't get married to his hand, and saved a bunch of chips as a result. With a board of x-x / {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {A-Spades}, Kalpakis bet fifth street. Imagine his surprise when Andre Boyer raised him, showing x-x / {4-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {4-Spades}. Kalpakis thought it over, then folded. Boyer flashed {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds} in the hole for a full house.

Boyer is up to 73,000; Kalpakis is down to 39,000.

Kobie West Eliminated

Kobie West's tournament is over. He started with split queens, caught queens and sevens on fourth street, and by fifth street all of his money was in the pot. His opponent, Joel Fischbein, started with split kings and caught a third king on fourth street. West never filled up; Fischbein's three kings took the pot.

West walks with $3,640 in consolation money.

Sabyl Still Rolling

Sabyl Landrum continues to enjoy success on Brasilia #52. She recently completed the bring in with a {J-Spades} door card and was called by Chip Jett and his {9-Diamonds}. Fourth street came {10-Spades} for Landrum, {7-Spades} for Jett. Again, Landrum bet and Jett called.

Jett made an open pair of sevens on fifth street against Landrum's third spade, the {6-Spades}. He bet, and she called. Landrum took first action back on sixth street by making an open pair of tens; Jett caught one of her spades with the {Q-Spades}. Landrum bet and Jett called.

Both players checked the river down. Landrum showed {J-Clubs} {5-Spades} {J-Spades} {10-Spades} {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} for two pair, jacks and tens. Jett mucked. After the hand, Landrum is near the top of our leaderboard with 85,000 chips, while Jett is in Short Stack Land with just 25,000.

That's a Rapp

Stefan Rapp has been eliminated from the tournament by Al Barbieri. Rapp completed the bring-in with the {K-Spades} showing. Barbieri raised, and Rapp called all in.

Rapp: {2-Spades} {8-Spades} / {K-Spades}
Barbieri: {A-Clubs} {4-Spades} / {A-Diamonds}

Rapp did get a chance to sweat it. By the time the river card was dealt, he made a pair of kings and four to a flush. Barbieri squeezed his river first, and squeezed the {A-Spades} to make three aces and kill one of Rapp's spade outs. Rapp squeezed, but he couldn't find a spade and is eliminated in 21st place.
