Sam Grizzle and Bryan Devonshire got involved in a pot that cost Grizzle his tournament life.
Grizzle had / against Devonshire's / .
Both players were looking to improve and third street brought Grizzle the and Devonshire the . Fourth street didn't make either player a hand as Grizzle got the and Devonshire the .
The river dealt Grizzle the for a pair of tens, however, Devonshire got the to trump Grizzle's tens.
Grizzle was one of the last three out of the money.
A frustrated Cory Zeidman has hit the rail, courtesy of John Hennigan. We picked up the action on sixth street:
Hennigan: x-x /
Zeidman: x-x /
Hennigan, with the better board, led out for a bet on sixth street. Zeidman held his last 1,900 chips in his hand.
"That totally sucks," Zeidman said. "That's the hand I put you on. I could be drawing dead." He thought a bit longer, then made the call.
Hennigan opened in the hole, for a made diamond flush. Zeidman turned over for a pair of queens. He was indeed drawing dead. He pushed his cards in towards the dealer, got up and left the table before the river was dealt.
Men "the Master" Nguyen has exited the Brasilia Room. He brought it in with the , then reraised after one player completed and Max Troy raised. Troy 3-bet, Nguyen called, and they were heads up to fourth street. Nguyen wound up check-calling the rest of the way until sixth street, where he raised for his last 2,400 chips. Their boards:
Nguyen: /
Troy: /
It was Nguyen's buried jacks against Troy's buried queens. Neither player improved on the river. Nguyen is out.
Richard Tatalovich started with split tens, which must have looked pretty good with his short stack. Unfortunately for him, his opponent started with rolled up jacks. Tatalovich never improved better than two pair, tens and nines. He is out less then ten spots from the money.
David Levi has hit the rail. He got all in on fourth street against John Hennigan. Each players had a pair of sixes in the hole; Hennigan had to go with his against Levi's . Levi never improved, while Johnny "World" made aces up.
Sam Grizzle completed the bring-in with the , and Jeremy Kottler was his only caller with the . Grizzle caught the on fourth street to Kottler's . Grizzle bet again, and Kottler called again.
On fifth street, Kottler was best with the to Grizzle's . He bet; Grizzle called. Kottler check-called sixth street when he caught the to Grizzle's , then check-called again on the river. Grizzle showed just a pair of queens, but that was good enough. Kottler flashed two clubs in the hole, for a club flush draw that never came in.
Kottler was down to only 1,000 chips after the hand, and eliminated shortly thereafter.
