Greg Pappas recently picked up a big pot. He started three to a straight flush with / and made his flush by fifth street. He convinced Charlie Townsend to check-call his bets all the way to the river after Townsend made aces up. Townsend never filled, and Pappas' flush was good.
After the hand, Pappas has 58,000 and Townsend has 29,000.
We only caught up with this hand on sixth street, where Chris McIntyre raised against Ryan Nicholson. Nicholson made the call, then check-called the river. Their boards were somewhat similar:
Nicholson:
McIntyre:
But when the betting was done on the river, McIntyre turned over for a very well-disguised full house.
"You're one lucky sonofab*tch, Chris," Nicholson said after the hand was over. He is now on life support with 12,500 in chips. McIntyre jumped up to 90,000.
Ryan Nicholson, Joel Fischbein, Charlie Townsend and Chip Jett were all eliminated within a span of about five minutes. Each earns $3,640 for his performance in the tournament.
As Jett was being processed to receive his payout at the cage, the floor supervisor, who had taken his TotalRewards Card and put him in the system, asked him, "Are you related to Chip?"
Bryan Devonshire recently made three open jacks on sixth street against Chris Tryba's board of . Tryba folded to Devonshire's bet on sixth, remarking, "It must be nice to be you."
Devonshire answered, "It is," as he raked in the pot.
Chris Tryba was short and running out of streets. He was all in against Sabyl Landrum. Landrum was not able to connect with anything on her board, showing . Tryba was in even worse straits; he showed for only jack high, but a very good draw: any nine, any diamond, any pair or even any ace would win him the pot. He squeezed the river and drew the to make a diamond flush and stay alive.
After needing to pull a one-outer on the river yesterday to stave off elimination (and doing so), Chad Brown is out. His trip queens weren't quite as good as Max Troy's trip kings, in a hand that went all the way to the river and crippled Brown.
He went out shortly thereafter when his all-in on third street was called by Charles Moore. Brown made jacks up, which were again not quite as good as Moore's kings up.
Michael Rocco is wearing a shirt that has a picture of his son Oliver on one side and the phrase "Stake My Daddy" on the other. One of our field reporters asked Rocco if it worked. He replied that it did; Jeff Lisandro bought a piece of him in today's event.
After Chris Tryba brought it in with the , Sabyl Landrum completed with the . She was raised by Bryan Devonshire and his . Tryba called(!), before Landrum reraised. Devonshire put in the third raise, which Tryba again called, before Landrum raised the fourth time all in. Both Devonshire and Tryba called.
Devonshire folded Tryba on fourth street with a single bet after pairing kings, to be alone against Landrum for the main pot. The boards came:
Landrum:
Devonshire:
Landrum's full house, queens full of fives, was more than enough to take down Devonshire's kings. She now has about 49,000 in chips.
