"Tom Vu: The Man, The Life, The Mission"

We pick up the the action on the turn, with the board showing {3-Spades} {4-Spades} {6-Spades}. The turn is the {7-Hearts}. Infomercial superstar Tommy Vu checks, and his opponent bets 5,000. Vu calls.

The turn is the {9-Diamonds}. Vu checks again, and faces another bet of 5,000. He says, "There's too much in there," and he calls with {3-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. His opponent held {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}, and missed his flush draw, shipping Tommy Vu 23,000 chips.

Bad Beat Deeb

Shaun Deeb, holding {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} called an all-in preflop raise from a middle-position player. His opponent had {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} and Deeb needed to get lucky to win the hand.

The flop came {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {9-Spades} and Deeb was now drawing to a four. The the turn blessed him with the {4-Spades} and Deeb took the lead in the hand. The river blanked off the {K-Diamonds} and Deeb knocked out his opponent and raked the pot.

Deeb has 11,000.

Kathy Liebert put her tournament life on the line when she moved all in from the button with {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. J.J. Liu called from the small blind and tabled {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, putting Kathy behind going into the flop.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {Q-Spades} {4-Spades} {9-Hearts} and Liebert was eliminated.

Tran Make the Right Call

JC Tran was facing a tough call when the board read {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Spades} {A-Spades} and his opponent bet 1,550 into him on the river. He went into the tank, and after much thought Tran called and turned over {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs} for a pair of kings. The board had an overcard and a four-flush, but Tran was right and his opponent mucked.

Childs Play

Lee Childs has been nursing a short stack most of the day, and someone finally just put him out of his misery. He and another player went to the flop heads up, and the board read {6-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Childs moved all in for his last 2,800; his opponent made the call, turning over {8-?} {8-?}. Childs was at risk and behind with his {3-Clubs} {5-Spades}. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the river was the {6-Diamonds}, proving useless to Childs and sending him to the exit.

The raiser checks, and Stout puts out a bet of 1,500. His opponent check-raises all in, and Stout makes the call.

Makowsky Does One In

Action passed around to Daniel Makowsky in the cutoff seat, and he reraised to 7,500, successfully isolating himself against the at-risk player. He showed down {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}, while the all-in showed {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}.

The board fell in Makowsky's favor, coming down {2-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. The ace on the turn won Makowsky a nice pot and sent one more player out. Makowsky sits on 24,000 chips currently.

Phil Tom Busto
