Mark Vos Doubles before the Break

In what ultimately ended up a battle of the blinds, Mark Vos was able to double through to 11,500 in chips just before the break.

On a flop of {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} Vos led out with a 400 bet and was raised to 1,000 by the big blind. Vos then reraised, kicking it up to 2,900 and his opponent made the call.

The {5-Clubs} fell on the turn and Vos open-shoved all in for just 2,475. His opponent made the call and showed {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. Vos revealed {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for the nut straight. An irrelevant {8-?} came on the river and Vos stacked up ~11,500 in new chips -- a timely double-up just before the break.

Phan Hurting

An under-the-gun raiser made it 625 and John Phan reraised to 2,000. The button moved all in for 10,975. The original raiser folded and Phan made the call.

Phan held {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and his opponent {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}.

The flop was great for Phan, {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and then the river nailed the {10-Hearts} into the felt, giving the button a straight.

Phan is down to 6,000.

Mahmood Retakes the Chip Lead

Ayaz Mahmood
Ayaz Mahmood
Ayaz Mahmood has just retaken the top spot on the leaderboard after outflopping an opponent's pocket kings with his own pocket fours.

Mahmood had limped into the hand from the cutoff and the action folded around to an unknown player in the small blind, who made it 1,500 to play. Mahmood made the call and saw a flop of {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades}, giving him bottom set.

His opponent then open-shoved his last 6,000 into the middle and Mahmood made a quick call. Blanks on both the turn and river cemented the hand for Mahmood, who now sits with a field-leading stack of ~44,000.
