Evdakov Running Good

Nikolay Evdakov made the money again in this year's WSOP. They do say that there is some luck involved with poker and it's always good to have lady luck on your side.

Evdakov recently got all in with {A-?} {9-?} up against {A-?} {J-?} and rivered a nine to stay alive and double. A couple hands later, he was at it again when the flop came down ten high and Evdakov got all in with {10-?} {7-?}. This time he was behind {J-?} {10-?}. Evdakov rivered a seven in this hand to double again.

He's up to 85,000 now.

Kings Fail Pope

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and 20,000 in the middle, Aaron Wilt bet 22,000. Bryan Pope asked for a count of Wilt's chips -- 87,000 -- then made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}. Wilt pushed his remaining chips in, and with some apparent trepidation Pope made the call.

Wilt showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a set of eights, while Pope showed {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for the overpair. The river was the {J-Clubs}, and Wilt collected 245,000. Pope is now down to 60,000.

Be Wary of Ware

Steve Ware
Steve Ware
Talk about running good. First Tony Hachem raised, Steve Ware reraised, and Hachem folded. Ware showed aces.

Then Ware called a hand down to the river with pocket queens (and an ace on board), and took down another pot.

Then Ware raised to 7,000 from middle position, Dan Shak reraised to 24,000, Ware repopped all in to 70,000, and Shak called instantly.

This time Ware had {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Shak was well behind with his {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. The board ran out {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}, and Ware had leapfrogged up to 142,000. Shak fell back to 57,000.

We're Not Making This Up

On the very next hand (after those described in the last post), Ware found himself in yet another big hand versus Chris McCormack. A preflop raising war resulted in McCormack getting all of his chips in the middle, with Ware having him covered.

McCormack had pocket aces, and Ware pocket kings.

The flop was {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Then the {K-Spades} popped out on the turn, putting Ware way ahead. The river was the {J-Hearts}, and McCormack was eliminated.

Ware is now up to 276,000.

Ashby Out

Richard Ashby pushed all of his 80,000 in on a board of {10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and was called by David Farber. Ashby showed {A-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair, and Farber {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for sevens and the flush draw.

The river brought the {4-Diamonds}, and Ashby was bounced. Farber now has 267,000.

Nay for Yeh

Philip Yeh shoved his last 20,000 with A-5 and was called by Bertrand Grospellier who held A-J. The board brought no help to Yeh and he is gone.

Grospellier is up to 270,000.

Dicken Doubles

A player opened for 5,500. The next player reraised to 16,000 and then Darrell Dicken moved all in for slightly over 50,000. The first raiser folded and then the second raiser called.

Dicken showed pocket kings and was up against {A-?} {Q-?}.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {3-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Spades} and Dicken was able to double up to 120,000 after coming in late and being the short stack in the money.

Millar-Time for Daut

Ryan Daut got all in preflop with Alex Millar. Millar held big slick, {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}, and Daut held {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. It would be a race situation for a pot over 150,000. Millar was the one with his tournament life on the line.

The board ran out {7-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} and Daut successfully eliminated Millar, moving up to 178,600.
