Just as play slowed down immensely as we approached the money bubble, the same seems to be happening again. Players are trying harder and harder to ensure themselves the best possible opportunity to reach the final without any big blunders.
As most players tip-toe along, it seems Bertrand Grospellier and Samuel Trickett are just running over their tables.
Davidi Kitai raised to 20,000, and Eddy Scharf reraised all in behind him. Kitai called.
Kitai had a pair of eights, and Scharf A-10. The flop brought an ace, but it also contained an eight. Scharf couldn't catch up, and he was eliminated in 22nd.
Edward Ochana just won a 200,000-chip pot off of Bertrand Grospellier after flopping a king-high straight. Grospellier was down to 840,000 after that one.
Soon after, Ochana raised to 22,000 from middle position, and Jimmy Wong raised all in to 131,000 from the small blind. Ochana called, turning over . Wong showed .
The board came , and Wong doubled up to 280,000. Ochana now sits at 445,000.
Steve Ware raised to 22,000 from the cutoff, and Davidi Kitai reraised to 102,000 from the big blind. Ware asked for a count of Kitai's chips, then reraised enough to put him all in. Kitai quickly called, and Ware exhaled, clearly not thrilled that Kitai had called.
Kitai showed , and Ware . The board ran out , and Kitai had doubled all of the way up to 487,000. Ware has fallen to 171,000.
In a hand from right before the break, Keith Hawkins raised to 1,600 from under the gun and the table folded back to Bertrand Grospellier in the big blind who shoved all in. Hawkins then called with his remaining 100,000 or so.
Grospellier:
Hawkins:
The flop came and Hawkins went from way ahead to way behind. The turn and river -- -- brought him no help, and Hawkins was eliminated in 24th.
On the hand after Christopher Kline was crippled by Eddy Scharf, he got all in with Jason Gray. Gray held pocket sevens and Kline was looking to double back up with pocket eights... but then there was the flop.
The board ran out and all Kline could say was, "Are you kidding me?"
