Getting Close

Players are seated and unbagging their chips. We are not too far away from the start of today's final table.

Meanwhile, here's a bit of background on our nine players . . .

Seat 2: Joe Pelton (Irvine, California) -- 1,093,000

Seat 2 - Joe Pelton
Seat 2 - Joe Pelton
Pelton made a big splash in the fall of 2006 when he made back-to-back World Poker Tour final tables, winning the 2006 Legends of Poker and coming in third at the Festa Al Lago tourney. He has cashed five times previously at the WSOP, including a final table at last summer's $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em event. Pelton's total career earnings exceed $2 million, making him second only to J.C. Tran in career earnings among our final table participants.

Seat 4: John Conroy (Dublin, Ireland) -- 501,000

Irishman John Conroy has over a dozen small cashes to his credit thus far, primarily in Europe-based no-limit hold'em events. His most significant finish previously was a third place in an EPT event in Warsaw, Poland, for which he took home the equivalent of $143,992. That cash represents about two-thirds of his overall career winnings, which total just over $226,000.

Seat 6: J.C. Tran (Sacramento, California) -- 1,438,000

Seat 6 - J.C. Tran
Seat 6 - J.C. Tran
Tran is our most decorated participant at today's final table, though like the other eight he, too, is seeking his first WSOP bracelet. The closest Tran has ever come to a bracelet before was in 2006 when he finished second in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event. Tran has to his credit one World Poker Tour title, five WPT final tables, and numerous WSOP cashes, including five already this summer -- and two other final tables! He also took down the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker main event in 2006, netting a handsome $670,000. His total career earnings exceed $6.2 million.
