Pelton Pounces

Joe Pelton
Joe Pelton
We'd noted Anderson Silva's aggressive play earlier. Joe Pelton had noticed, too. On a recent hand, Pelton had raised to 60,000 from middle position and Silva called from the button. The flop came {4-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and Pelton checked. Silva pushed all in, and Pelton called immediately, showing {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Silva had pocket deuces.

Pelton's hand held up, and he doubled to 650,000.

No worries for Silva, though. Shortly afterwards, he pushed all in again with {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and got called by massive chip leader Rasmus Nielsen who held {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Silva's hand held up and he's back to 690,000. Nielsen has 1.8 million.

Tran Doubles Up

JC Tran made it 55,000 to go preflop and Jason Moungey called. The flop ran {A-Clubs} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} and Tran fired 65,000 into the pot. Jason moved all in for 900,000 and Tran insta-called. Tran showed pocket nines for a flopped set and Mason held {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. Jason failed to improve and is down to just 240,000 after the hand while Tran is up over 1,000,000.

Tran Truckin'

J.C. Tran

Shortly after the previous hand, J.C. Tran took another decent pot off of Christoph Köhnen. On a board showing {7-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Köhnen bet 85,000, Tran reraised to 245,000, and Köhnen let it go.

Köhnen is at 380,000, and Tran has moved up to 1.4 million.

Kevin Nathan Eliminated in 11th Place ($36,729)

Kevin Nathan
Kevin Nathan
Kevin Nathan was eliminated after moving all in preflop with pocket nines and was called by Anderson Silva. Silva held A-Q and on a flop of {4-Hearts} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} managed to pick up a straight draw, which happened to connect on the river when the {10-Spades} fell, eliminating Nathan from the field.

And Then There Was One

We've reached the final table here in the Brasilia room! We are currently at ten players remaining and have to lose just one player before calling it a night. We started the day with 215 players and in just over twelve hours we've lost 205 of them. There are still plenty of spectators here sweating the rail, most of them being for Anderson Silva.
