Power Poker on Green #3

Although there are only 71 players remaining, players are not sitting back on their thumbs and trying to slide up in the payout structure. On Green #3, Wes Pantling opened the pot from the cutoff for 4,500. He was reraised by the button, Cody Slaubaugh, to 12,000. When action folded back to Pantling, he tanked for two minutes, looking everywhere but directly at Slaubaugh. Then he put in the third raise to 36,000, leaving himself only 15,000 behind. Slaubaugh quietly folded; Pantling flashed {10-Spades} {9-Spades}.

Pantling is now up to about 65,000 chips.

Channing is Busto

We missed the action, but caught up with this hand in time to see Neil Channing, holding {10-?} {9-?}, eliminated by Michael Brummelhuis and his pocket jacks on a board of {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {J-Hearts}.

We thought eliminations might slow down somewhat today now that players are getting deeper in the money, but so far that hasn't been the case.

Brummelhuis now has about 120,000 chips.

Picking Up Where They Left Off

After a day chock-full of eliminations and action, in less than 12 minutes, four players have been sent to the rail after moving all in before the flop.

Here's one:
Nghia Lee was the first player down, moving all in with {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and getting called by Thomas Patzner, who had {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} in the big blind.
The board ran out {j-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

And another:
Edward Damidot raised all in for his last 16,000 and was called by Zachary Clark with {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Damidot showed Q-J. The board came {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, and Clark is up to 115,000.

Jared Okun Busts King

Jared Okun, who cashed in the Main Event last year, just knocked out a player.

Okun and Zachary King were all in before the flop, Okun holding {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and King with {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The board came {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Spades} and King was eliminated.

It's the second cash of WSOP 2008 for King, who will take home $3,205. King made the final table in Event #3 — $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em.

Okun is up to 96,000.

More Suited Connector Madness

Another player picking up suited connectors means another player eliminated. This time, Ernie Rossi got the remainder of his in preflop holding {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}. He was called by Peter Marr's {7-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. A flop of {7-Clubs} {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds} made Marr a prohibitive favorite. His two pair held up when the board bricked out {6-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}.

Rossi was eliminated. Marr is over 120,000.
