Double or Nothing

We just saw a couple of big double-ups over at Table #150, both during a hold'em round.

First Ben Grundy doubled through Amit Makhija when Grundy's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} held up against Makhija's {A-Clubs}{9-Spades} after the board came {9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Then it was Makhija's turn to go all in with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} versus Rami Boukai's {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The community cards were {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and Makhija survived.

After those skirmishes, Makhija has about 90,000, Boukai has 395,000, and Grundy is up to 415,000.

Amit Makhija Eliminated in 13th Place ($13,534)

Hold'em

Rami Boukai opened with a raise to 30,000 from middle position. On the button, Amit Makhija considered his options for a solid minute before moving all in for what appeared to be 90,000. When it came back to Boukai, he instantly called.

Showdown
Boukai: {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}
Makhija: {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

Right in the door came the {A-Clubs}, but as the dealer spread out the three cards, the {10-Diamonds} and {7-Spades} were revealed, and Makhija could only shake his head. The turn was a beautiful sight though, as the {A-Hearts} brought a sniff of life for the at-risk player, still needing one more help card. It wasn't meant to be however; the {4-Clubs} filled out the board, and Amit Makhija has been sent to the exit in 13th place.

Boukai, Makowsky Lead Final Dozen

As we near the end of Level 20, Rami Boukai enjoys the chip lead with just under half a million, with Daniel Makowsky just behind him with 475,000. The short stacks with a dozen players left are Sigi Stockinger (145,000) and Jan Collado (120,000).

Jan Collado Eliminated in 12th Place ($18,170)

The six-handed table folded around to Daniel Makowsky who raised to 30,000 from the button. Paul Parker then announced he was reraising pot from the small blind, and when Jan Collado called with the rest of his chips in the big blind, Makowsky decided to skedaddle.

Parker {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Collado {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The players stood up in order to witness their fate. The flop came {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, and Parker still led. The turn was the {A-Diamonds}, though, and now Collado had a commanding lead. But the river brought the {8-Hearts} -- and a few "oohs" from around the table. "Brutal!" was the much-repeated comment.

Collado is out in 12th, while Parker now has about 295,000.

We're Back

With the next elimination, it appears the players will be redrawing for seats around a ten-handed final table. Some objected to playing PLO ten-handed, but that appears to be the plan.

We'll also be moving over to the secondary feature table at that time from our current location here in the "Green" section of the Amazon Room, so there will likely be a pause in the action in order to get all of the players and their chips over to the table on the small stage.

Updated Chip Counts

Just got a count of the last 11 players' stacks. While doing so, the short stacks at one table (Khan, Kabbaj) were asking about the status of the short stacks at the other (Stockinger, Cimpan).

Here's how they all look at the moment:

Daniel Makowsky -- 585,000
Rami Boukai -- 510,000
Najib Bennani -- 505,000
Paul Parker -- 312,000
Benjamin Grundy -- 295,000
Gary Do -- 220,000
Pawel Andrzejewski -- 215,000
John Kabbaj -- 205,000
Cornel Cimpan -- 190,000
Hevad Khan -- 135,000
Sigi Stockinger -- 135,000

Hevad Khan Eliminated in 11th Place ($18,170)

First in from the button, Hevad Khan put in a pot-sized raise to 42,000. Najib Bennani was in the small blind, and he was leaning over the table trying to eye up Khan's remaining stack. After a moment, he re-raised with a big stack of pink chips. Daniel Makowsky folded the small blind, and Khan quickly put his last 50,000 additional chips into the pot.

Showdown
Khan: {A-Spades} {8-Clubs}
Bennani: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

The board ran out completely dry for the young pro, coming {6-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. With that, Hevad Khan becomes our 11th-place finisher, heading over to the payout desk to pick up more than $18,000.

After Khan's elimination, the remaining 10 players have bagged up their chips and headed over to the secondary feature table area. We'll be on break for 20-30 minutes while the players fill out their bio sheets and recombine into one final table of ten.
