You're Not Klinging Any More

Lauren Kling found herself holding {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} and up against the all-in Lisa Parsons' {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}. Zero binkage on the {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {6-Hearts} board, and Parsons was up to 180,000; meanwhile Kling was crippled to around 6,000.

She managed to double up once, but the second time she shoved she got two callers and it was Jamie Kerstetter who eventually won the hand after she and Santy checked it down and the pair of tens that Kerstetter had hit on the river was good to take the pot.

Ain't That Always the Swaney

Sandy West shoved for 80,000 and Laurie Swaney called all in for 36,000; no-one else wanted to join the party, and they flipped their cards.

West: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Swaney: {6-Spades} {6-Hearts}

Board: {7-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Thus Swaney's pair was counterfeited, and not long after she was collecting her monies from the desk while West was raking in her chips, bringing her up to 130,000.

Kling of the Castle

Klinging on for dear life
Klinging on for dear life
Lauren Kling open-shoved with {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}, and it was a fairly easy call all in for short-stacked Frances Bartolone holding {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Nevertheless...

Board: {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {5-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Thus we lose the unfortunate Ms. Bartolone, while lucky Lauren Kling is up to 100,000.

Three Tables Left

Tables look like this, except with players around them
Tables look like this, except with players around them
We are down to 27 and the field has therefore been condensed on to just three tables. Everyone still in now is guaranteed $5,566, but there's a long way between that and the $195,390 for first...

Over the Hillis

Kim Cunningham limped in under the gun and it folded right around to Cindy Hillis on the button who pushed her short stack into the middle. A call later, and they were on their backs.

Cunningham: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Hillis: needing to hit with {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades}

Board: {K-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

Out goes Hillis, and Cunningham has cunningly stepped her way up to 132,000.

Zarosky's Off

Zarosky - blew up
Zarosky - blew up
Patti Zarosky shoved under the gun for 70,500 and it folded around to Collette Brown on the button, who gave the matter some considerable thought before calling. It was absolutely the right decision.

Zarosky: {A-Clubs} {9-Spades}
Brown: {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}

Board: no nasty surprises here {4-Spades} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

Zarosky bites the tournament dust, while Brown is up there with the chip leaders on 315,000.

Santy Blessed

Ouch. A nasty outdraw has set Anna Kantor back down to 140,000 and saved the tournament life of Lisa Santy.

Santy open-shoved the cutoff with {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and got a call from Kantor in the big blind holding the dominating {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}, but bink!

Board: {9-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}

Santy enjoys a lucky double up to 120,000.

Ming Saels Away

Ming Saelee is entirely busto. She got her last in with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} and found a caller holding {A-Spades} {J-Spades}. The {3-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} was not enough for Saelee, and out she goes in 31st place.
