Squeeze Squelched

Jesse Rios limped in from UTG, and Brock Parker raised to 165,000 from the button. Joe Serock, sitting in the small blind, took a moment to look across the table at Rios' stack, then cut out a large stack of green (25,000) chips topped by a few orange (5,000) ones. He pushed out the bet: 430,000.

Rios folded, and Parker snap-shoved all in. Serock didn't take much longer to get out of the way.

Parker assumes the chip lead with that one, having now pushed up to around 2.4 million. Serock slips back to 1.625 million.

No Meat Snacks, Thanks; Makes the Cards Greasy

As has been customary at these final tables inside the arena, a waitress just came around with complimentary Jack Link's beef jerky for the players. All turned down the offer except Jesse Rios who grabbed a couple of bags and tossed them to friends who are watching. "Thank you, Jesse," came the call from the stands.

The Stacks Get Closer

Parker raises to 95,000 from UTG. Rios, who seems to be playing a lot of hands from the blinds, calls in the small blind.

The flop is {7-Spades} {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}, Parker bets 135,000 after a Rios check but is faced with a check-raise to 300,000 and Parker folds with a sigh.

The stacks are all finely balanced at this point.

The Price of Poker Is Going Up

Note those new blinds and antes -- 20,000/40,000 for the blinds and 5,000 antes. That's 85,000 in the middle before anyone acts.

In one of the first hands of five-handed play, Jesse Rios raised from under the gun to 115,000, Brock Parker reraised from the button to 285,000, and Rios called without much hesitation.

The flop came single-suited -- {J-Spades}{A-Spades}{6-Spades}. Rios checked, and Parker promptly made a hefty bet of 300,000. And Rios just as promptly let it go.

Rios Doubles Through Wilson

Joe Serock raised to 76,000, Alex Wilson reraised for an 175,000, then Jesse Rios reshoved for 550,000 total. Serock got out of the way, and Wilson made the call.

Rios {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Wilson {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Rios was still good. The turn brought the {7-Spades}, giving Wilson an up-and-down straight draw. But the river was the {K-Clubs}, and Rios survives. He's up over a million now.

Quiet... Too Quiet

Russell Crane raised to 76,000 from middle position, and Joe Serock called from the button. The flop came a provocative {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Crane checked, Serock bet 130,000, and Crane gave it up.

A small but enthusiastic Serock cheering section made some noise after that one, prompting a smile from the usually stoic-faced Serock.

The crowd has been mostly quiet this afternoon, no doubt due in part to the infrequency of all-in bets and showdowns since we've moved over to the feature table. But wait... what's that rumbling? It sounds like a pot might be brewing....

Serock Rustles Up Some Chips

Russell Crane makes it 76,000 from the cut-off. Joe Serock goes for his reraising chips again, making it 205,000 this time from the small blind. Crane folds and Serock finally gets a reraise through (I'm English, that's how we spell thru - we need the extra scrabble points) for the first time in a long while.
